Who can Celtic be drawn against in the Champions League?

|

Champions League Celtic newsCeltic could find themselves paired with Real Madrid, Manchester City and Juventus after the draw for the group stage of the Champions League.

Neil Lennon’s side find themselves in the bottom pot but other than pot one with the top seeds there isn’t much to choose between the three others groupings with Juventus and Paris St Germain in the group of third seeds while Sporting Braga and Dinamo Kiev are in the second group of seeds.

Pot 1 consists of Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal, Real Madrid, Barcelona, AC Milan, Bayern Munich and Porto.

Pot 2 is made up of Valencia, Benfica, Shakhtar Donetsk, Zenit St Peterssburg, Manchester City, Shalke 04, Sporting Braga and Dinamo Kiev.

Pot 3 consists of Olympiakos, Ajax, Anderlecht, Juventus, Spartak Moscow, PSG, Lille and Galatasaray.

The teams that Celtic definitely won’t face are from pot 4 which has Borussia Dortmund, BATE Borisov, Dinamo Zagreb, Cluj, Malaga, Montpellier and FC Nordsjælland.

Celtic have already played 13 of their 24 possible opponents in the Champions League group stage or qualifiers.

With four English sides in the draw there is a 50% chance that Celtic will find themselves in alongside a Premiership club.

“It’s the best thing I’ve done in football,” Neil Lennon said after the match. “The pressure going into this game and, in particular the last five or six weeks, has been enormous.

“I actually feel British clubs going into these games are at an unfair disadvantage because they’re starting their season, so it makes the effort of the players and the performances even more remarkable in the circumstances.

“You know what it means to the fans here and the club. It’s been four years in the waiting and I’m just so happy and so proud of them.”

i think the best group in terms of chance of progress would be arsenal, dinamo kiev and olympiakos. Arsenal have went downhill since fabregas left and are now without van persie aswell and i dont think podolski and giroud can replace him, dinamo kiev arent a bad team but they look the least formidable out of the pot 2 teams and olympiakos have bad financial trouble and have lost some good players, not quite sevco style though lol i think we can put up a good fight for at least 3rd in any group we get, MTH

    Exciting times!!

For glamour – Real Madrid, Man City, Juventus

Better chance of qualifying – AC Milan, Braga, Anderlecht

Prefer to avoid trips to Eastern Europe but just delighted to be there. Well done Neil and the Bhoys!!

Well done everyone connected with this great club. Last night’s atmosphere was up there with the great nights.
Please Celtic, sensible pricing for the group games and let’s have at least 3 more nights like last night.
    Just Can’t Get Enough.

Almost sure to get an English side but I’d like to face Real Madrid obvious glamour and a wee chance we could upset them in Glasgow.

Would also like another crack at Ajax as I felt we could take them in a real contest.

Some very tough games ahead for sure, but I’m sure the players / fans will rise to the occasion.

Just makes it even more galling that we were cheated out of at least 5 chances to enjoy similar nights and the huge cash investment.
