Efe Ambrose CelticEfe Ambrose is looking to silence ‘Operation Crush Nigeria’ to see the Super Eagles through to the finals of the African Cup of Nations.

Liberian president Sirleaf-Johnson has given his backing to the campaign before the double header against Nigeria.

Ambrose has been a regular in the Nigerian national side for a year and will be in the spotlight for today’s clash between the two nations.

Edwin Snowe, president of the Liberian Football Association has joined forces with Sirleaf-Johnson to lead the campaign but the new Celtic defender is happy to take on the hysteria.

“We know what is at stake and are prepared to give more than 100 percent because that is what is required to secure victory in Monrovia,” Ambrose stated. “Their president is behind them, but our motive is not only to win there, but to secure our Africa Cup of Nations qualification before the return leg in Nigeria.”

Team-mate Victor Moses moved from Wigan to Chelsea during the transfer window and is also looking forward to silencing the Liberians.

He pledged: “I don’t normally like to boast, but we want to make light of the Liberians by going for a victory in Monrovia. It is a very important assignment because I want to appear in my first Africa’s Cup of Nations and don’t want to see Liberia as a barrier.”

The finals of the African Nations Cup will be held in South Africa in January. With Kenya being knocked in the first qualifying round by Togo Victor Wanyama won’t be missing from Celtic on international duty.

All the best Efe and Nigeria but, most importantly of all, please get back here in one uninlured piece to begin your Celtic career in earnest.
