Georgios Samaras Euro 2012Celtic will find out in the next 24 hours the extent of Georgios Samaras’ arm injury.

Early reports of a broken arm or dislocated elbow have proved inaccurate with ligament damage suspected following a collision during the World Cup qualifier between Latvia and Greece

The midfielder returned to Glasgow today allowing the Celtic medical team to examine the full extent of the injury to his left arm.

Last night the players agent, Gregory Ioannidis, tweeted: “Sammy’s scan results are expected in the next day or so. I pray the injury isn’t serious.”

Samaras is expected to be out of action for at least a month which means that either Miku or Lassad Nouioui could be given their debut in next Saturday’s visit to St Johnstone.

With Anthony Stokes out till the end of October Gary Hooper is the only one of last season’s first team strikers currently available to Neil Lennon.

Tony Watt has started the last two SPL matches following the loan deals for Mo Bangura and Daryl Murphy.

Watt will be in action tomorrow night when Scotland’s u-21 side take on Austria hoping for a win to clinch second place behind Holland and a possible route into the European Championships in Israel as one of the best runners-up.

Celtic have won two of their four SPL matches so far this season and will be anxious to go into the Champions League clash against Benfica with a win under their belt.

Lennon faces an anxious week checking on the fitness of a number of players with Scott Brown, Joe Ledley, Beram Kayal, Paddy McCourt and Charlie Mulgrew all missing from international action.

Best of luck to big Sammi and all our injured players.

This injury list is getting beyond a coincidence. An article was written on C Q N recently about the amount of injuries we get. Some are completely unavoidable, but these must be many that our medical people can help to eradicate.
I believe, that our players are too finely trained. Especially this summer with Champions League in mind.
I believe we have sacrificed a certain amount of robustness for an extra half yard of pace.
Other S P L teams don’t look as fit, but don’t get the same list of injuries.
I might be a mile away, just thinking.
