Ally McCoist Rangers newsCharles Green has given Ally McCoist his full backing- but not repeated his promise of a contract for life.

The Ibrox boss has finally come in for some criticism after being turned over by bottom-of-the-bottom-division Stirling Albion on Saturday.

Despite going into the match on the back of five straight league defeats and with their manager walking down the aisle to get married the part-timers pulled off a memorable 1-0 win.

Sevco have taken 12 points from 7 matches in Division Three but Green insists that he has full confidence in McCoist’s ability to lead Sevco to glory.

“There is no chance of Ally being sacked,” Green told The Sun. “Yes, Saturday’s defeat was an embarrassment but no one more than Ally knows what happened at Stirling was unacceptable.

“We’ve got to get a lot of things sorted at the club and we’ve never said it was going to be easy.

“We are certainly not going to solve anything by dismissing the manager. Remember, the manager wasn’t on the field on Saturday, was he?

“Ally will be the first to accept that he picked the team. That it is his responsibility but no matter the players picked, Rangers should still be able to put out a team to beat anyone at this level.”

The Sevco mouthpiece added: “I find it incomprehensible that the same players can win so well against top of the SPL Motherwell and then play like we did at Stirling.

“We’re all frustrated, none more so than Ally someone who knows exactly the privilege and pleasure it is to pull on a Rangers jersey and do it justice.

“Ally has absolutely my 100 per cent backing. I’m currently down south on business and I spoke to him after the game and we’ve arranged to meet in London on Thursday.

“We’ve got a fortnight now until our next game and that gives us all time to take stock, reflect and plan ahead.”

The interview also claims that Green will announce details of a share issue tomorrow.

didn’t think their whole sorry mess could get any funnier….. I was wrong!

  • Kenny McCaffrey says:

Of course he backed him – Green hasn’t got the budget to get rid of him, never mind going out and getting another poor sod. Can’t understand why anyone hasn’t asked him about the cost anyway – didn’t McCoist invest his own dosh too?

Down South on business all week Mr Green. I thought your business was in Govan. I see no need to be conducting TRFC business down south unless you were meeting with some people whos identities you would rather not be made public. Eh? As for meeting sally in london,is this the same as being sent for by the headmaster?

  • KevinBarry says:

It would be quite difficult to sack him as he is one of the major shareholders!!! If he was to leave Sevco am sure he could get a wee job in the SFA somewhere…

  • JhimmyTjnr says:
