Charles Green news

Three days after dreaming about hearing the Champions League anthem over Ibrox Charles Green has promised that Rangers won’t play in the SPL while he remains Chief Executive.

How he intends to fulfill both promises remains to be seen but like his soundbites of 20 millionaire investors and three billionaire investors it’s unlikely that Green will have to back up his grandstanding comments with commitments.

Green first spoke to Belfast based supporters about not returning to the SPL but went public today speaking to Richard Keys and Andy Gray on Talksport.

The chief executive of the SFA , Stewart Regan, has said there will have to be some restructuring in Scottish football,” the former Sheffield United chief stated. “It’s no secret the SPL have been working on a plan and I understand the (Scottish) Football League have got their vision for change in Scottish football. It has to change because it’s in a mess.

It’s really difficult for me to take seriously the SPL re-structure. They threw us out of the league and are now pursuing title stripping, and for us to sit down and think that after all that has come to fruition that I will say ‘OK, everything’s forgotten’, you’re in cloud cuckoo land. I don’t forgive and forget.

While I’m Chief Executive, Rangers will not play in the Scottish Premier League.

[If that situation arose], I would go out to the fans, as we did earlier in the year, when they were consulted as to what division they wanted to play in. They wanted to play in the Third Division and we as investors listened to them and were happy to do that.

And we would go back to them again. But my position wouldn’t have changed. If they wanted to go back into the SPL, then fine. But I won’t be Chief Executive.”

Despite Green’s claims Sevco did apply to join the SFL as a First Division club but that was rejected by the members who allowed them into the Tird Division despite having no published and audited accounts.

think Chuckles may find that if it became a
toss-up between him staying and zombies returning
to the SPL he may find himself on “inkly moor by tap”

This comment in summarizing CG’s latest rant surely should be taken in by the SFA and all the gullible SEVCO fans who think they are part of the oldco. I saw this as a summary by a SEVCO supporter on CG’s raaving.

“His consortium would have paid £3m more to save oldco because then Rangers would have had an unbroken history”

  • james says:

Would someone tell this man that his SEVCO team were not thrown out of the SPL.They had no rights as a brand new entity to play in ANY division in Scottish football.I for one was disgusted that the SFA and SFL allowed them to jump the queue.
