Henrik Larsson Celtic newsHenrik Larsson has emerged as a surprise candidate for the manager’s job at Blackburn Rovers.

Steve Kean resigned from the club on Friday night with former players Tim Sherwood and Alan Shearer amongst the early favourites for the job.

Spurs won’t let Sherwood leave without a hefty compensation fee while Shearer is unwilling to give up his media career for the turmoil of Ewood Park.

According to a report in the Daily Mail Larsson is being considered as a potential candidate for the job after three years in charge of LBoIS in the Swedish Second Division.

LBoIS are currently sitting in the middle of the table with last night’s 1-0 win over Angelolm ending a run of five straight defeats.

Larsson’s international reputation is believed to appeal to Blackburn’s controversial owners the Vencky’s but it’s unlikely that a move to Ewood Park would appeal to the 41-year-old.

Throughout his entire career in football Larsson has displayed an incredible single mindedness.

During seven free scoring years at Celtic he had numerous offers to move on for more money but valued the lifestyle and success that he found in Glasgow.

Having made his intentions clear the Swede quit Celtic at the end of the 2003/2004 season to join Barcelona where he picked up a Champions League medal after turning the 2006 final against Arsenal after emerging from the bench.

Rather than stay around the Nou Camp Larsson returned to Sweden for family reasons for a swansong at Helsingborgs before moving into management.

Henrik is no fool…..a club with major problems, little fan base – no chance of making any major impact on the top flight. I’d file under paper talk / garbage.
