Barcelona could have Gerard Pique in their side to face Celtic on Wednesday.
The defender will take part in training tomorrow- alongwith Carlos Puyol- before Tino Vilanova names his squad to fly to Glasgow.
Pique has been out since he injured his right foot in the 3-2 home win over Spartak Moscow on September 19 but could be back in action to face Celtic.
“We have a training session on Monday,” Vilanova explained after the 3-1 win over Celta Vigo. “We’ll see if there’s a possibility for Piqué and Puyol to join the team. It’s possible that Piqué will be fit for the match against Celtic.”
Barcelona warmed up for the clash with Celtic by setting a new club record of nine wins and a draw from their opening ten La Liga fixtures.
Alongside that they have won all three Champions League ties and know that a win against Celtic will ensure their qualification to the last 16 with two games left to play.
Vilanova has taken the transition from being Pepe Guardiola’s assistant in his stride but believes that the success of the club is all down to the attitude of his players.
“It’s not easy (to break these kinds of records) seeing that you have to beat teams like Celta, t his record is a demonstration of the desire these players have to win,” the Barca boss added. “Besides the record what’s important are the points that we’ve won.”
David Villa scored for the third domestic game running with Vilanova feeling that the striker is returning to the form he was in before breaking his leg at last season’s World Club Championships.
“He takes an additional step each day,” Vilanova stated. “We’re very pleased that he’s making a good return to competitive play and that he’s as eager as ever after such a serious injury.”
