Neil Lennon newsNeil Lennon has revealed that no decision has yet been made over whether Scott Brown will undergo surgery for his degenerative hip injury.

The Celtic skipper was substituted after 64 minutes of the 2-1 defeat from Benfica with Lennon admitting after the match that there was little more that he could ask of from the midfielder.

Speaking to Celtic TV tonight Lennon revealed: “We may have to wait on Scott, the problem is in the stomach, hip pelvis area seems to flare up every now and again but that wasn’t the problem on Tuesday- he was cramping up because of his lack of training because he’s been resting between games.

“We’ll assess him and Joe Ledley is starting to show similar symptoms as Scott so we’ll have to be careful with that.

“Charlie Mulgrew wasn’t feeling very well at half-time and he may miss the Inverness game at the weekend.”

James Forrest hasn’t played since the 2-0 defeat from Kilmarnock last month and has only a 50-50 chance of being available for the Champions League clash with Spartak Moscow.

Lennon added: “James had a scan on Monday and it’s come through that he has a tendon problem in the hamstring area.

“We’re assessing that but there always seems to be complications with James, the injuries he gets don’t seem to be straightforward. We’re hoping and it’s an outside chance that he’ll be fit for Spartak Moscow.”

I would love to meet Neil and ask him why two players (Brown and Hooper) played on Tuesday.Neither were remotely match fit IMO….
Strange choice for such a big game….

Brown has clearly been struggling for some time, madness to keep putting him through more pain when we have fully fit players sitting on the bench.

Asking players to play big games while carrying injuries is merely putting the layoff back and extending the recovery time required.

If the players were to get proper pre-season training instead of traipsinz all over the world they might be less liable to standard injuries.

Can’t believe we are saying guys are tired mentally / physically already….how many games has Messi / Ronaldo etc played. They are playing at a higher level on a weekly basis.
