Celtic’s Next Gen Series side are in action tonight against Sporting Lisbon.
Group 3 is almost as tight as Champions League Group G with just five points separating all four sides.
Celtic drew their last match 2-2 with Aston Villa with Stevie Frail well aware that tonight’s is a must-win clash.
“We’ve had some really good spells in all of our matches so far but know that we must put in a 90 minute performance tonight,” the hoops coach said.
“Sporting are a top class side as they have shown down the years but we’ve proved ourselves to be capable of competing with the best at this level.
“We had a great first half against PSV Eindhoven and will need to recapture that level of performance again.
“We respect Sporting, they are a quality club with an academy that is respected throughout the game. We’ve been staying in their academy and all around it there are pictures of the players who’ve come through.
“Last season we took nine points but lost out on a place in the knock-out stage. We’re going to have to win tonight to stay in contention but the players know that and know that they are capable of competing with Sporting.
“We felt that we deserved to take something from the match at Firhill but at this level you can’t get away with being caught short.
“The players have improved as the tournament has gone on, they’ve shown in the last two matches against PSV and Villa what they are capable of.
“It’s a big big match for them tonight but we’ve prepared well and hopefully we can put in another strong performance and come away with a win.”
