SPL newsCeltic can move seven points clear of Inverness Caley Thistle if they win at Dundee tonight.

Terry Butcher’s side drew 2-2 at home to St Mirren giving Neil Lennon’s men a great incentive to win at Dens Park.

At the other end of the table a 1-0 win for Ross County pushes them nine points clear of Dundee who look like being cut adrift at the bottom of the table.

Richie Britton scored the only goal of the game meaning that Pat Fenlon’s side have yet to win since beating Hearts in the Scottish Cup at the start of the season.

Inverness trailed twice against St Mirren with the visitors netting through Dougie Imrie and Stevie Thompson but the home side earned a draw thanks to goals from Andrew Shinnie and Richie Foran.

Result of the day was at Fir Park where Motherwell hammered Aberdeen 4-1 to move into joint second place alongside Inverness.

Tom Hateley opened the scoring with a double from Jamie Murphy putting the home side 3-1 up at half-time with Michael Higdon completing the scoring ten minutes into the second half.

At Rugby Park Kenny Shiels benefited from another penalty decision as Kilmarnock beat Hearts 1-0.

In the remaining SPL match Dundee United and St Johnstone shared the points at Tannadice with Gavin Gunning’s early header cancelled out by an own goal from Brian McLean.

At the top of the First Division Partick Thistle lost their 100% home record when Morton won 2-1 at Firhill. Thistle remain at the top of the table after Dunfermline lost at home to Falkirk.
