Juventus newsJuventus coach Antonio Conte has ruled out a move for Didier Drogba.

The former Chelsea striker has been constantly linked with a move away from Shanghai Shenghua despite moving to China in the summer.

Juventus have also been linked with an interest in Gary Hooper with Conte surprised by reports that he is ready to make a move for Drogba.

“I don’t know why Drogba’s name is being mentioned,” Conte told the Turin based daily sports paper Tuttosport.

“Nobody has talked to me about him and I haven’t asked for him either. Saying that, we could do with a world class player who has won the Champions League but we know what we need and how to proceed.

“We are aware that we don’t have €50m to spend but, if we plan ahead, we can buy champions for €35m-€40m.”

Juventus go into the winter break eight points clear of second placed Lazio with Conte delighted by his sides’ achievements over the last 12 months.

“Today we showed all our anger and ruthlessness which has enabled us to register 94 points in 2012,” the Juve boss stated. “Beating a record established by Fabio Capello.

“It was a true show of strength, and the final one of a winning 2012. Whoever plays against us will be fully competitive and alert. Cagliari were in it all the way and had cramp at the end.”

Juventus’ next match is at home to Sampdoria on Sunday January 6.
