Mikael Lustig newsMikel Lustig wants to see Celtic back to winning ways when Motherwell first foot tomorrow.

The Fir Park side have an impressive away record are joint second in the SPL alongside Inverness Caley Thistle.

Celtic’s defeat at Hibs ended a five match winning run in the SPL with Lustig looking to return to the form that the side showed during the majority of December.

Hopefully we can play a good game against Motherwell, score some goals and get back on track,” he stated. “I think we were the better team against Hibs, but that’s football and if you don’t score it is hard to win.

“The attitude and character we showed was brilliant at times but we are Celtic players and we don’t like to lose, we always want to win. We always think we should score goals.

“I think we created some big chances and had some good crosses and as I said before, goals are really important.”

Adam Matthews and Charlie Mulgrew may come into contention for a place against Motherwell after missing the trip to Hibs through injury but Kris Commons, Joe Ledley, James Forrest and Anthony Stokes remain absent.

Celtic won’t be back in action until January 19 following the Motherwell match with Neil Lennon hoping that the winter break and a week in the Marbella sunshine can boost his squad.

“The break will be nice when it comes,” the Celtic boss admitted. It will be for the injured players more than anyone.

“Forrest, Commons, Stokes, we will have those players back hopefully by the time the Hearts game comes around and the squad will look a lot stronger.”

The BIG rider to attitude & character being brilliant was AT TIMES….now & again isn’t good enough. We barely worked the keeper at all over 90 mins which says it all.

If we showed even 33% of the effort we put in v Barcelona H or A against Hibs, Killie, St. Johnstone or Inverness we would still be unbeaten in the league.

We didn’t lose to better teams, simply sides that worked harder than we did which is inexcusable no matter the formation, players missing.

Players have let us down too often, they should have a long wait for the next opportunity. Our young guns have rarely disappointed, certainly never lost for lack of effort…time for some of them to given the nod surely.
