Fears from Ibrox as Lord Nimmo Smith panel sits

|

SPL Celtic newsLord Nimmo Smith this morning finally gets to chair the independent SPL panel charged with investigating a prima facie case of undeclared payments made for over a decade by Rangers.

On June 18 a statement from the SPL read: “The SPL Board heard a report from its solicitors following the investigation into payments to, or for the benefit of, players allegedly made by Rangers FC outside of contract.

“The delay in concluding the investigation was caused by an initial lack of co-operation from Rangers FC.

“The investigation has now been completed and, in the view of the SPL, there is a prima facie case to answer in respect of its Rules.”

While Charles Green and his hired hands go on about title stripping and shift between newco and oldco when it suits the SPL case is much more simple.

Lord Nimmo Smith will look into the charge that players received payments outwith the earnings declared in contracts lodged with the SPL and SFA.

These details only emerged when HMRC began to look into the use of EBT’s with different rules applying in football.

Undeclared payments mean that players were ineligible with normal protocal seeing results overturned where an ineligible player has taken part in a match. Numerous clubs have felt the full force of this in recent seasons and found themselves eliminated from Scottish Cup ties that they ‘won fairly and squarely on the pitch’.

According to the BBC over 50 employees, including players and managers, had side letters to accompany their contracts prompting fears and threats from within Ibrox over the outcome of the Nimmo Smith enquiry.

Newly installed in-house communications director James Traynor warned of the consequences of a guilty verdict on the club website.

The former Daily Record and Radio Scotland pundit stated: “If there is any attempt to take away titles deep divisions will be created with Rangers fans feeling they shouldn’t set foot in any other grounds. Scottish football cannot afford that.

Only last week Charles Green spoke about the need to start healing wounds but these could fester and become poisonous depending on the commission’s ruling.

“No one wants that but refusing to do the right thing for the game now could damn us to a long period of pain and distrust. There will be no unity and clubs will suffer.”

Instructing Nimmo Smith and the SPL Traynor added: “They have to understand that this case could cost them as much as £400,000 and for what?

To prove only that the paperwork connected to the contracts of a handful of players wasn’t properly filed?”

HMRC are awaiting approval to take their appeal against the result of the First Tier Tax Tribunal.

All rise, go on my lord get ripped intae them!

  • Buffythecat says:

If this IS proven Mr Traynor there WILL be serious repercussions if the rule book is NOT applied to Sevco/Rangers by the rest of Scottish football.

As for you, Mr big fat tub of putrid guts Traynor you can take your toxic threats and shove them up your big fat ar$e along with you EBTs. Your days of influence are as dead as Rangers and the urine soaked toilet ”newspaper”you call the Daily Rectum.

Now lets sit back and watch the titles being stripped one by one. . .

      Supporting the famous Glasgow celtic

      Shame on you jabba

  • HoudiniBhoy says:

Traynor, Green and the blue-tinted boys of Billy keep saying that you can’t punish the newco… yet their history is still theirs. Can’t have it both ways. However, my way of doing things would be to punish the oldco, removing their titles and fining the oldco so that effectively there are no punishments for the newco to face. Then how can Green and Traynor moan? If they moan then this surely means that they’re still the same club and liable for their fines… here’s a thought, why don’t they pay the oldco’s debts whilst they’re at it!!

    • TJ Hooper says:

I believe any repercussions would be classed as a ‘footballing debt’ which Sevco would need to pay as part of the agreement to acquire the Rangers PLC (in liquidation) league membership. In this sense they can be punished. I’m not sure what Jabba is jibbering about though. Why would fans of a new football club be upset about titles being stripped from a club that already spectacularly collapsed anyway? Those payments were deliberately masked for the purposes of tax mitigation (arguably evasion if you ask HMRC) and it is not just paperwork ‘not properly filed’. They sought to push the rules to the limit to get a better team on the park. They broke (not bent) this rule in the process. Go fetch a cup of tea Lord Nimmo, I’ll take it from here.

I know we did it your honour, but if ye don’t let us off………..there,ll be trouble!

  • Greenjedi says:

    Paperwork wasn’t filed properly?????????

No it was intentionally withheld, major major difference Jabba

  • paranoidandroid says:

I didn’t think it was possible for Mr Trainer to sink much lower- but he has.

  • Tony B says:

Festering and poisonous. Words used by Lord Haw Haw Traynor in connection with the zombie bigots.
For once Jabba you are bang on the money.
My only question is how can an institution that is mired in corruption get any more toxic?

  • Hoopybhoy says:

When are the threats going to stop it is just sad. And as for jabba not filling paperwork next he will be trying to rewrite the law so that everything is just a misdemeanour someone should lock him up in a padded room

  • jasbhoy says:

If, as expected, the huns are found guilty then I hope Nimmo Smith does not overlook the current SFA president’s role, after all, he was the huns’ secretary during most of the period under investigation. I would hope he is forced from office shortly after.

    • barcabuster says:

He was also at the Jambos when they had tax probs.Making monumental Fuck ups seems to be mandatory to have on your C.V for a top job at the SFA…….Right next to ‘Who do you support?”.

  • KevinBarry says:

Nothing will happen, mark my words. Titles won’t be stripped.

    • Shamrock hoops says:

I agree KB, it will be the biggest cover up to hit Scottish football- we live in hope!!

      • KevinBarry says:

Guaranteed! Nothing surprises me anymore. They will prob find them guilty but come up with a different punishment and that won’t affect oldco.

    • martin kennea says:

IF nothing happens , then we should get ourselves out of this wee rotten country .

  • barcabuster says:

I can’t see how a cover up can be concealed. There istoo much information in the public domain. Stripping titles is one of the lesser punishments available to the committee. A fine will not suffice, and will not be paid. My bet is guilty! Titles and cups stripped, but I would like it to go further. Full repayment of all fraudulent prize money re-paid, by Sevco. As part of the 5way agreement to repay football debts. That should be enough dirt on the zombie grave to stop them crawling out again.

    • martin kennea says:

Stripping of titles is a consequence of their cheating actions . So strip them of cups and titles , and THEN punish them .

      • NoPretender! says:

        Are ya mad?
The F.A witheld Rangers Prize money for finishing the Season Second to pay Dundee United monies owed to them by the now defunct RFC.

Rangers we’re booted from the League, therefore their League position was void & they finished bottom but the FA have already covered that up; What makes you believe their isn’t a bigger cover up on the Horizon?

Btw the FA have known about Rangers Corruption from Season ending 2011, yet they allowed them to claim the Top prize of Champions League qualification & the resulting prize money.

        What else don’t we know?

  • paulybhoy says:

How much are rangers paying u you morbidly obese tena wearing arse. Oh no ive pished myself again lucky the seats at ibrox are plastic

  • Monti says:

Title stripping is the order of the day M’lud, the Hun zombies!

  • Morto says:

If – and it’s a big if – results are overturned and titles removed then the prize money earned should also be reclaimed and as mentioned this could be as much as £1m per season.
However, this would also mean Oldco would not have been eligible for Europe those seasons either so will UEFA and the various clubs also be able to go chasing their stolen prize money too?

    • barcabuster says:

That’s for EUFA or Euro clubs to decide independantly Morto. They would certainly have just and reasonable cause. I think if the 5 league’s & 4 cups(or vice versa), are upheld, then that is in excess of $12m. Obviously second spot money, semi’s etc need added to that. Should bury them quite deeply and send Chucky away with ‘is big ‘ands, empty. Awwwww! Shame that!

    • martin kennea says:

      please God , i hope so .

  • Monti says:

Oldco Rankgers are as guilty as sin,my dog even tells the other dogs in my street this! Just crucify them lord Nimmo,it’s easy!

  • sands1888 says:
