Steve Frail Celtic newsCeltic’s u-20 side begin a heavy programme of fixtures against Inverness Caley Thistle today, kick off 3pm at Firhill.

The young Celts have only played 11 of their 30 league matches and also face Aberdeen in the last eight of the SFA Youth Cup.

Celtic trail leaders Dundee United by three points but have three games in hand over the Tannadice side.

Two years ago Celtic won six away games in 28 days during April to clinch the title with coach Stevie Frail well aware of the possibility of fixture congestion effecting this season’s campaign.

“We have a lot of games coming up and will have to use the whole squad well,” he stated. “The development players will be used and the younger players will also get a chance.

“There’s going to be quite a few weeks where we are playing two games which is something we’ll have to look at closely but the players are looking forward to playing again.

“The majority of them have only had a few days off and some of them have been away with the Scotland u-19 squad in Turkey.

“We had a game against Crystal Palace that we took a lot from and everyone is looking forward to getting playing again.

“The players were very disappointed by the defeat against St Mirren in their last match and know that they can play better.

“We need to implenent the things that we work on in training, we were a bit short against St Mirren, we know that we can play better.

“Against Inverness we know that we’ll need to play better, they are having a good season and might have a few experienced faces in their side with the SPL about to start up again.”
