Neil Lennon has praised Efe Ambrose’ recovery from Celtic’s defeat to Juventus.
The defender scored against Dundee United and St Johnstone as he shrugged off his Champions League hangover.
Lennon was heavily criticised for playing Ambrose just two days after he had won the African Nations Cup and is delighted with the character that has been shown since that setback.
“I hope Efe’s season isn’t remembered for just one game,” the Celtic boss told Celtic tv. “Efe has been fantastic, he’s been a brilliant signing, I think of his away performances in the Nou Camp, Lisbon and Moscow and even here against Barcelona.
“His performances have raised the bar and he’s been very consistent in the league as well.
“I’ve never worried about his character, he’s very strong minded, his reaction in the last two games has been fantastic.”
Celtic face three domestic games in seven days before travelling to Turin with difficult away days coming up at Motherwell and St Mirren.
The strength in depth of the Celtic squad was shown recently in the 3-1 win away to Inverness Caley Thistle with Lennon set to freshen up his side for the visit of Dundee on Sunday.
It’s unlikely that any of the u-20 squad will be called into the side however as they have an SFA Youth Cup tie the same day.
With Aberdeen visiting Firhill and a semi-final place up for grabs it’s likely that Joe Chalmers and Marcus Fraser will remain with the u-20 squad.
Celtic beat Aberdeen 1-0 earlier in the season at Brechin but the Doms have had a strong season at youth level including a 6-0 win over Dundee on Tuesday.
