Green wants Sevco short cut

|

Charles Green newsCharles Green wants to see Sevco given a short-cut to the top if league reconstruction goes ahead.

Despite only having associate membership of the SFA and having never produced any audited accounts Green wants to see the Third Division leaders catapulted into the second tier of the game referencing the so-called ‘Stranraer Precedent’.

In 1993/94 Stranraer finished top of the 14 team Second Division, finishing the season as the 25th best team in Scotland. With the leagues switching from 10-14-14 to 10-10-10-10 at the end of the season Stranraer were promoted into 20th place in Scotland.

Under Green’s scheme Sevco will by-pass the Second Division and move from the fourth tier of the game into the second. Predictably Green also backs up supports David Longmuir’s plan to introduce Colt teams to the bottom tier further fuelling rumours that the two men are working in tandem with a common goal. Once again the former Sheffield United chief discusses Celtic as part of his golden plan to save the universe and Scottish football.

In a statement on the Sevco website Green said: “The principle of promotion and relegation for the clubs which fall into these categories at the end of this season should be enshrined in any new league set up.

“So, if, as widely predicted, we end up with a 12-12-18 set up, Rangers should be promoted and this promotion should be to the middle tier.

“There is already a precedent for this situation, established by the SFL at the end of the 1993-94 season when Stranraer, winners of the lowest of three divisions, were promoted to the new second tier on the basis they were champions of their division and merited promotion.

Green added: “As we have seen recently many clubs are struggling and the likes of Dunfermline would be given a much-needed financial boost by Rangers playing in their division.

“We are genuinely pleased to have done our bit to assist these clubs financially and have been warmly welcome by SFL clubs. We would like to continue helping the game in Scotland and that’s why I am proposing that a Rangers’ Colts team be admitted to the SFL, and I hope Celtic would also consider doing the same.

“The SFL has shown real leadership in proposing this initiative although it should be pointed out that this was not the result of lobbying from this Club. This is an SFL initiative and is genuinely practical in that it would result in bringing much needed additional income to the game.

Confirming that Sevco haven’t been given any encouragement to join the English Conference or Benelux ladies league Green added: “as chief executive of Rangers, I ‘ave a duty to pursue the interests of this club. I have talked openly in the past about exploring other playing environments and change may well happen at some time in the future but no-one knows when.

“As things stand, we all have a duty to do the best for the game as well as our clubs and that is why I think these proposals would be good for Scottish football. All I ask is that these proposals are discussed and considered in a fair and balanced manner.”

True what they say about empty vessels making the most noise. Fact is the FANS are the true power in Scottish Football and the vast majority of them will NOT accept any rapid promotion for Sevco.

I doubt that the 12-12-18 format will be in operation for next season, but if it is then Sevco should remain in the 3rd tier. If not then they can be promoted to the 3rd tier.

Fair & proper without fear or favour – simple enough even for a stupid Yorkshireman to understand. Besides didn’t your own fans keep saying they are enjoying the “adventure” LOL

Don’t have Masterton to save them now, even if Dunfermline go under…it simply opens up a space for all other clubs to move up. I’m sure the fans will understand the need a rise of £ 200 in season tickets and not walk away…Aye right LMAO

Longmuir will dance for Green and his chance to join Jabba at Sevco, if Green doesnt get this fill in the blanks of this old headline. Rangers Threaten __________.

audit your accounts by april 5 then show you are not cheating your fans and we will see

  • Joe Murray says:

The biggest problem for these morons to understand, is that although sevco are in the third division, it’s the fourth diversion really. So after reconstruction they will be in the third division. A completely different scenario from Stranraer. They won the third division so got promoted to the second division, while the SFL brought in a fourth division.

  • Stevie says:

As soon as Sevco make it to the top league the honest mistakes will return with a vengeance to gain them champions league €s. in saying that they’ll need three years accounts and with fat Sally there they might be fecked.

    • sands1888 says:

Theres no if about it bud, sevco wont last another year never mind 3 and they arent good enough to win the 2nd division, truth is without all the honest sending offs against them this season they would struggle to win the 3rd

      • Joe Murray says:

Did Sally not say that they could lose the first few games next season until the transfer ban is over and they could sign players? Professional footballers unable to beat part time players because they don’t have new players in their team? Fanny!

  • NoPretender! says:

maybe we should just exchange the SPL trophy for the 4th tier flask to shut them up?
after all, they are The Sevco!

stranger things have happened in scottish football this season.

    Unfair Competitive Advantage….

  • Tully says:

Sure sign that they are struggling big time and need to get back into the SPL before the cash from their share offer runs out!

  • KevinBarry says:

Aaaaarrrrrggggghhhhhhh. Wish this fanny would stop mentioning Celtic. And he should also stop saying they are ‘continuing to improve Scottish football’. WE improve Scottish football with out performances in the CL! Ur a 3rd div club with no meaning.

  • paranoidandroid says:

If the scheming, cheating bastards manage to pull this off, it’ll be the ultimate slap in the face for Scottish football fans. The rest of us might as well pack up and go home, and leave the sevco faithful alone to play with themselves every week. It seems to be what they want, anyway.

To say that guys like Green, Regan, and Longmuir are slime is an insult to slime.

  • Frank McGaaaaarvey says:

“GIve the likes of Dunfermline a much-needed financial boost”?????

Surely, they don’t need it. They can just be liquidated, write off all of their debt and the ‘Newco’ could be fast-tracked into the bottom division as if nothing had ever happened! Simples! Isn’t that the way it’s meant to work?

  • rodger says:

    Fellow Tims

It could well happen that green and the new rsnkers get pushed forward,
never and I mean NEVER underestimate the reach and the influence of the freemasons in scottish society never mind football.
The power these scum weld while a bit diluted these days is considerable, and always working behind the scenes.

  • maddogg1967 says:

i thought this muppet was on a sponsor silence as we have not heard from him for a while. but when he opens his gob he makes a pure arse of himself,it was not that long ago he said sevco will not be part of scottish fitba.HH
