Lennon sets the record straight

|

SFA football newsNeil Lennon has highlighted Celtic’s excellent on the park and balance sheet after the farce of the Lord Nimmo Smith investigation.

While Celtic’s achievements, without having to write off millions of pounds in debt owed to the public purse, are overlooked, the hoops boss was happy to set the record straight as Nimmo Smith’s guilty verdict is overlooked to celebrate a paltry punishment.

“It wasn’t our fight, it was the SPL, they brought up the tribunal against Rangers,” Lennon explained as he was questioned on the Nimmo Smith investigation.

“It doesn’t affect us, we have the quarter-final of the Scottish Cup to prepare for and we are playing Juventus in the last 16 of the Champions league, we are not renting out a training ground.

Lennon added: “Listen, we have been nothing but positive, we have talked the game up all year, it is everybody else who has been talking about other things outside of our club.

“We have been a shining example to any other club this season, on and off the field. If people want to take the game forward, I am all for it, then they better get their finger out and do it.

“If you look at what we have done, I think a lot of the shine has been taken off that. But we have done nothing wrong, we have tried to promote the game not just domestically but also in Europe and I think we have done that very well so we don’t have to do anything else.

“Other people have to stop talking and show more action.”

Despite the guilty verdict on his former club disgraced Campbell Ogilvie remains president of the SFA.

Lennon was magnificent. Mature and angry but made his point well. Press were like jackals trying to goad him. Plsying juventus not renting a training ground to them was nail on head.

How many times do they ask Green or Sally follow up questions as they did Lennon?

    Never. .

    Good on you Neil.

  • Monti says:

Well said our Neil, while Celtic should take a lead with any opposition to the masoni,i mean commission decision, which was laughable only if it were funny.let’s be very clear here, this is not a Celtic thing, this IS a Scottish football issue, affecting ALL clubs!! All the clubs in Scotland who had the misfortune to play the dead club during the period of 2000 to 2011,have been completely, financially ripped off,so let’s hear the backlash from all the clubs involved, don’t accept it,fight it & just like you did with the say no to Newco in the Spl vote,do what you can individually & as a group,we have a club here ( a new one with no history),who when returned to the top flight will be immune from punishment, who are favoured by referees & have their own people in charge of the game, the game is corrupt, the game is a lie,the game can only be restored by the clubs,if you don’t take a stand now, nothing will change! Jock Stein said ” football without the fans is nothing” I would say football without honesty is meaningless”

The Media are a joke, they think they can rewrite history and turn a guilty as sin verdict into an innocent of all charges verdict. The issue is the lack of any punishment. They were found guilty of all charges and once HMRC win their appeal, they will be proven to be the biggest cheats to ever disgrace the game. Whether they are punished by their Masonic brothers is another matter. Damage limitation and water muddying is the order of the day for Scottish hacks.

    • Joe says:

I agree. This was all about looking after their own. Just think about this before you mark you vote down on paper for the independence! You haven’t seen anything yet!

      • eastside says:

I think what is bothering so many observers so deeply, is the clear influence of the Masonic Establishment. Although Rangers are seemingly getting away with it, they are being forced to use every dirty trick in the book and are having to use the full weight of the brotherhood to do so. This is leaving their not so secret society exposed and has forced them into public dishonesty and clear collusion between Rangers, the footy authorities, Scottish business and the judiciary. Rangers have had to publically air their institutionalized corruption and have had to ask for all manner of Masonic favours to save themselves. What has happened has proven to the whole Country just how deeply our society is influenced by the Establishment.

  • williebhoy says:

Lennon should simply state he doesn’t talk about 3rd Division sides far ess dead clubs.

If they want to talk about 3rd division go to Elgin / East Stirling / Stirling Albion or Sevco.

If they want to talk about Champions League or 2 in a row League Champions, multi-million pound profits, top youth systems then come visit us at Lennoxtown.

  • Bridie Bhoy says:

Absolutely disgusted by the whole farce. I fear a lot of people will walk away from this corrupt sport from most SPL teams. We need a massive united statement from all fans to show our outrage at investing (financially & emotionally) for over a decade to support our teams where one team were allowed to cheat us all by not abiding by the rules. Something like an update on “sell-out Saturday” like “walk-out Saturday”. The fans pay their money to watch thre game (so the clubs don’t suffer financially), then at half-time everyone leaves. Imagine the dramatic images this would make on tv as we all tell the world we won’t accept this disgraceful decision lying down. I appreciate this goes against everything we believe in, but surely a united statement must be made? Sorry if this is a stupid idea and offends anyone, but we have to try something and it must include the other fans as well who are just as disgusted by it all.

    • mark says:

No thanks when I pay to watch Celtic i stay for 90mins mate a don’t walk out half way through that’s just not the Celtic way HH

      • Bridie Bhoy says:

mark – I fully understand and totally agree 100%. But I was trying to think of something that couldn’t be swept under the carpet as “typical whinging by paranoid Tims” by our beloved laptop loyal. Every team and every fan in the SPL are all victims of this cheating. If we can unite to show we disgusted at being ripped off for over a decade and to force a total clear-out of the corrupt or incompetent highly paid officials ruining/running our national game, then this would be dramatic enough to bypass the Scottish media and make it to the national & international news. HH & respect

        • mark says:

A know what your getting at mate and a don’t doubt for a second how dramatic it would be but walking out during a game just doesn’t sit well with me. Celtic haven’t done anything wrong so why should we walk out on them. HH

        • mark says:

A total boycott of the semi final at hampden would get headlines and the SFA would make Fuck all off it as were the only fans that turn up. Boycott hampden not Celtic HH

    • Celtico102 says:

Totally agree Bridie bhoy. I am dead against boycotts but your suggestion of all fans from all SPL clubs walking out at half time would have dramatic effect. We need to do something on a united front. Hail hail

    • martin kennea says:

You are right,we have got to do something .What ? , i dont know .But we as a people need to take a stand and mobilise .If we dont then nothing will ever change .

  • Kendo88 says:

Great to to hear damn the verdict. And of course the interests of the football clubs have to be defended but we need to look
After ourselves we’ve all had enough we need to leave this backwater to the rest. Our future belongs elsewhere and our club officials must lead us and represent us properly. No faith, no trust, no respect for any football authorities in this cesspit. And the thought of every playing the reincarnation of the rancid zombie club disgusts. No more wasted energy or dialogue let’s embrace a future in pastures new wherever that may be.

  • Kendo88 says:

    Hail Hail bhoys and ghirls

  • mark says:

At last somebody at Celtic willing to stick his head up and tell them how it is no faceless statement when its lenny bhoy, his quote about were playing juventus not renting them a training pitch was fuckin class the man is a LEGEND and hates them as much as we do and never hides it. WE ARE ALL NEIL LENNON HH

    • Kendo88 says:

Totally right mate Neil is never afraid to stand up and be counted. But now its up to our board to lead us elsewhere. No more talking..action ..and the sooner the better. Hail Hail

  • Joe says:

Only in corrupt little scotand could a corrupt outfit be found guilty of cheating for over twenty years and get off scot free. Well, not any outfit of course, you have to be intimate with goats first
