Regan plea compromises Nimmo Smith appeal

|

Stewart Regan newsStewart Regan’s desperate attempt to ‘move on’ from the Nimmo Smith investigation could send Scottish football to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Switzerland.

Rangers and the SPL both have the right to appeal against the rulings from Nimmo Smith with that appeal due to be heard by the SFA.

Yesterday Regan urged Scottish football to draw a line in the sand which surely compromises the impartiality of the SFA if any appeal is forthcoming.

When the chief office bearer of an organisation asks both sides to accept a verdict the prospects of an appeal being given a fair hearing have surely been compromised.

If the SFA are unable to hear an appeal then the CAS in Switzerland would be the next step for anyone appealing the Nimmo Smith judgement.

Bleating about the topic brought about by his own failure to apply the rules of the game without fear or favour Regan said: “Now is a good time for all parties to draw a line under all that’s gone on in the last 12 months.

“There’s been a lot of animosity and ill will expressed and with league reconstruction being such an important issue it is vital we seek to build a stronger game for the fans to watch.”

Regan later confirmed that despite his wish to move on the SFA would hear any appeal against the Nimmo Smith verdict.

The SFA chief added: “The report is subject to appeal from both sides and, as the appellate body, it’s not really up to the Scottish FA to be passing any comment on the sanction at this stage.”

Explaining why he attempted to engineer an SPL or First Division place for Sevco he added: “Over the past 12 months the Scottish FA, along with the leagues, have tried to put solutions in place that still allow Rangers to operate within Scottish football and prevent the rest of the game becoming collateral damage.

“We refute any suggestions we have done anything other than focus on what is good for Scottish football.

“My inbox over the past 12 months has been full of messages on the one hand saying Rangers have been treated too harshly and on the other saying they haven’t been treated harshly enough.

“It was an incredibly difficult situation where you have a club the size of Rangers getting into financial difficulties.”

Regan and his gerrymandering cronies have done more than anyone to inflict collateral damage on the Scottish game with his latest comments another example of how out of his depth the SFA chief executive is.

Until Regan finds employment elsewhere there is virtually no prospect of the Scottish game going forward to meet the action plans and performance indicators that define his current role.

if he’d stuck to the rules he could not have been ridiculed.
There is a closed shop in the heart of the SFA it’s pro Sevco.
Play by the rules you fool, we will persue justice by fan power if needs be, no doubt!

  • mark says:

You better believe he wants to draw a line under it because he hasn’t got a fuckin clue what he’s doing, he’s a idiot who right out his depth with this carry on his arse collapsed a long time ago. Ogilvie will be running the show behind closed doors and this muppet is the front man a blind man could see it. Lawwell should open his fuckin mouth and say something instead of putting lenny in the firing line asusual the silence from him is deafening AGAIN. HH

    • Monti says:

All the damage was done back in the summer Mark, when Regan & his cronies decided they would not punish the HUNS for anything, this confirmed what we all knew all along, remember if they had their way the Huns would have been in division 1 at worst!! The game is corrupt! The game is broken, the game is over m8 HH!

    • paranoidandroid says:

Does he really think that we’re all that stupid? We’ve witnessed years of bias, cheating, and blatant dishonesty, and now, most recently, we’ve witnessed over a year of the SFA and SPL bending the rules and fudging the issues to protect their favourite club.

We can’t trust any of them as far as we could throw them, yet Regan thinks we’re all going to just shrug our shoulders and forget about it.

      I don’t think so.

      • martin kennea says:

See this pish they all come away with , lets move on . We should never move on till justice is done . Its not a level playing field , and it hasnt been for as long as i can remember , and im 53 .

    • eastside says:

Regan openly tells us that we should all just cheer Rangers on to the top of the pile, nobody else matters except for Celtic as we are necessary to fulfil the role of Rangers arch enemy, to be the character in the Scottish Football Show of the adversary who has occasional success but who will always be defeated in the final scene.

These morons believe this entertaining showdown, like a wild weather reenactment, is the be all and end all of Scottish Football.

Regan and co need to go, we cannot have people running our competitive sport like a film set, directing their main characters into position and giving them scripts to read from, the rest of Scottish Football being left at the back as extras to the main scenes being played out. Places are EARNED in Sport, not a given right

  • Monti says:

    This isn’t the end,this is the beginning….Regan!!!

  • paranoidandroid says:

What are the chances of the SPL appealing the decision?

None, or maybe one day- when hell freezes over.

  • Chris says:

Who cares about what his inbox.is full of? What everybody cares about is the application of the rules and by trying to get them into the 1st division, reagan, sfa et al proves they werent willing to abide by the rules due to their ‘concern’ foe the financial wellbeing of scottish football. They were willing to completely igmore the views.of scottish football fans in order to line theyr own pockets as soon as possible when the rangers would have been promoted and, regardless of what charles green, reagan or any other corrupt, self serving or just retarded fuckwit says, the fans of every club in scotland (bar kilmarnock of course) wanted to see the rules applied; they werent ‘kicking them when they were down’, it was simply the fans trying to have some kind of rules applied, so away and grow a pair reagan or simply pack yer bags and fuck off! And take that black and decker arse wrecker doncaster wth u

  • Scott Mackenzie says:

this is welcome news to me. the fact that the avenue for appeal by the spl is open and like joe points out surely these comments once again highlight how bias the sfa are. also the fact that oglvie is running the place after he had clear knowledge of the wrong doing makes their impartiality impossibe, and should be automatically passed above their heads to the CAS.However we all know they do not want anyone higher involved as they would be unable to hide these things then. if it went to the CAS there is no doubt rangers would be stripped of titles. so there is no doubt the sfa will do everything in its power to peddle this ‘lets move on’ line. the fact is it was the sfa’s evidence that made nimmo declare no sporting bias – so again how can they then sit in on an appeal??? i really hope celtic are turning the screws on doncaster to appeal this to the CAS.

  • fallsroadcelt says:

Rangers r dead scottish football is dead. The whole game is corrupt

    • martin kennea says:

Im discusted at the sfa,spl and at celtic for not standing up and saying what should be said . There is NO sport in scotland . Im finished with so-called sport in this horrible bigoted country.

      • Kendo88 says:

We don’t belong here Martin you know that . The world loves our club and our culture except of course for this insular bigoted backwater. We are built for better. Time for new chapter in our Celtic story need to act for future generations. HH

  • Jeff Squire says:

    Corrupt to it’s rotten core

  • TJ Hooper says:

If his inbox is full of messages about this, how’s he going to read the anti-pope jokes?

Frankly its irrelevant anyway which are of the greater volume. He’s meant to be applying the rules of the game not acting as an arbitrator. If anything such a comment just opens him up to accusations he’s listening to outside factors instead of playing to an open rule book. All that doom-mongering and the threatening rumbles eminating from Ibrox stinks of intimidation and fear of social unrest. Just apply the damn rules instead of trying to please everyone!

  • sands1888 says:

What a wee wank, even looks like a manky hun

  • eastside says:

They just don’t get it at all, there is not going to be an acceptance of corruption anymore, fans are not going to just let it go.

Regan and his cronies really think we are dumb that we will tolerate favoritism, bias, collusion, corruption because we become bored of banging our heads against a brick wall, when the fact is his comments and attempts to turn our game into a Rangers fanfare to their supposed rightful place above everyone the rest of Scottish Clubs.

It’s not going to happen Regan! Fans have seen the corruption in all it’s dirtiest glory, they are disgusted and angry, they love Football, it is our Sport, a Sport that means more than people like Regan will ever be able to contemplate. The cat is out of the bag.

    • Monti says:

I hope your right mate,Celtic & other clubs should refuse to play the horrific zombie living dead!

      • Kendo88 says:

Monti if our club officials allow this to blow over and do nothing they will have failed us! Never in my life do I ever want us to compete against that illegal corrupt poisonous club. If it means all our players leave and we are left with under 19 year olds players in non league football then so be it.. We’ll always be Celtic in club and culture. Rather that be part of this crspitt!. Our club has a responsibility to us they must act. We will all be right behind them. We are ready lets do it. HH

        • Monti says:

Absolutely m8,this situation is shocking,Lawwell & Desmond need to get the finger out & take the lead here,do they have the stomach for a fight? I don’t know,as I have said before this isn’t just something that affects us, this is a problem for all the clubs!! If I hear Charles green or that fanny Mccoist on my telly again….

        • Kendo88 says:

Mate I’m excited about our future free of this sickening place. KTF

  • eastside says:

And please can somebody have a word with hum about his hair, if he expects to represent the National Sport, the least he could do is wash his effing hair the greasy tramp.

  • Antonious F says:

    a few questions-
what would wee Fergus aka ‘the bunnet’ do in this situation?
would he stand by and allow any club, irrespective of history, to cheat him out of millions?
Lawwell had better have a very shrewd gameplan and not be gambling on things sorting themselves out.

    • Kendo88 says:

Totally right mate fergus was a game changer. Stood for no pish. Love him ..the bunnet is a Lhegend! Lawwell an Desmond need to show similar strength

      • mark says:

Lawwell is at it mate if It’s not about telling everybody how much money he makes Celtic ( which is a lie It’s the team and fans that make Celtic money not him ) or working with the police to ban Celtic supporters from Celtic park he’s not interested I have no time for him he’s a snake. HH

        • Antonious F says:

wouldnt disagree Mark, thats my concern

        • Kendo88 says:

I hear what you say mate. He should be looking after his own. The GB have been brilliant brought the stadium alive. If he doesn’t get his finger out then we must act. Wish we still had wee fergus he would have led us. But we can all do it. We are the club! HH

  • jackmac says:

Much as I’d like this to be the case, we all know there is no such thing as compromised, untenable, conflicted or having integrity anywhere in Scottish football hierarchy. The baw is well and truly on the proverbial slates!

  • Andybhoy says:

Make no mistake this was THE watershed moment in the history of our game, this was THE chance to finally break the stranglehold of cronyism that has favoured one club above the rest, and this was THE chance to prove that threats, intimidation and propaganda would not stand in the way of justice being done.

There was clear and undeniable evidence of a systematic breaching of the game’s rules and regulations over a period of eleven years. This was no admin error or oversight, no minor infringement, it was a deliberate and calculated system employed by a club to gain an unfair sporting advantage over it’s rivals.

To say that deliberately concealed payments which contravene the rules that govern the game, payments which allow a club to employ a higher standard of player than they would otherwise be able to afford does not give any unfair sporting advantage over it rivals is a complete contradiction in terms. What would be the point in employing such a system in the first place if there was no advantage to be gained by it?

NEVER again will Scottish football have the chance to cleanse itself of this old boys network who are now more entrenched than they ever were. Since the verdict we have heard from the SFA, SPL, the Newco and the press telling us all it’s time to draw a line under the whole affair, that it is now time to move on, well you know what they are right.

It is now time for Celtic to petition UEFA for special dispensation to remove itself form under the governance of the these people and be allowed to seek another association to play under. If UEFA truly stand for fair play and sporting integrity then presented with the evidence of the last 18 months along with historical evidence regarding the behaviour of those who run our game they would have to give serious consideration to our request otherwise they too would be guilty of turning a blind eye to corruption in the game.

Know this, the resignations of Regan, Doncaster and Ogilvie will change nothing, boycotts and fans groups will change nothing. The only solution is to get out and get out now.

    Hail Hail.

    • ewanbhoy says:

your spot on Andy, i just hope we could be allowed into another league somewhere and sevco can stay and rot in the scottish game.

      • Kendo88 says:

Ewan bhoy defo but i Would even play friendlies next year than play here! Sick to the stomach

    • Kendo88 says:

Loving your work andy bhoy. This is the way to go! Our association with this corrupt bent association is well and truly over. It’s what we all want. Need action from our club officials

  • barcabuster says:

Regan has admitted the “favours” afforded Rangers for “the good of Scottish football”
If he thinks allowing cheating, bias, ineligible players, tax fraud, lying, corruption, obstruction, etc, etc is for the good of the game he has to go.
The SPL must go straight to CAS. The “favours” shown by the SFA prove an appeal to them has no weight. It was no coincidence it was the SFA who protected them at the LNS hearing. Lobby your clubs, and others to force the SPL to take this matter to CAS. It is the biggest single thing you can do to support your club.

  • Hugh BURNS says:

Iagree with most of these comments the only words that are missing is that Scottish football IS run by freemasons and the orange order and it is time someone like JOHN REID took this case to FIFA and let them see just how corrupt this country is.Or are there too many of them in other clubs to help and get rid of this fungus?

  • Thomas says:

Celtic need to stand up against this rubbish. It’s the last thing I want to do but I’ll be finished with attending any Scottish Football. The whole situation is a sick joke.

  • Kendo88 says:

    Preparing our move.

  • williebhoy says:

Can someone explain to me WHY the now dead club claimed full payment for the injury sustained to Stefan Klos for his declared salary to the SFA and also the non-declared “loan” amount….If this isn’t giving them an advantage by claiming money they weren’t entitled, then surely it is fraud.

    Worse than match fixing hhmmmm
Without fear or favour you say Mr. Doncaster
Armageddon and now doing collataral damage.
I think trying to brush this cheating under the carpet will do MUCH MORE damage to the Scottish game than anything else. Fans WILL turn their back forever. As Jock Stein once said, without the fans the game is nothing….Ponder on Doncaster your time is up.
