Mikael Lustig newsMikael Lustig has targeted the Scottish Cup semi-final against Dundee United for his comeback.

The Swedish defender has been dogged by injury for a lot of the season and last played for Celtic in the dramatic 4-3 win over Aberdeen on March 16.

Despite a 45 minute performance for Sweden against Ireland Lustig missed the weekend trip to St Mirren but is confident of being 100% fit for the Hampden clash with Dundee United.

It’s been tough since I got a knee injury against Juventus but I just want to build myself up for the Dundee United semi-final,” he told Celtic tv. “Hopefully I’ll manage that.

“It’s frustrating when you can’t play, I always want to be playing but sometimes you just have to listen to your body.

“We want to win the double it’s something that we are really hungry for. Every player wants to win titles and we hope to win the league soon.

“I feel that I have developed a lot as a player since coming to Celtic. When you are involved with a big club playing in huge matches like the Champions League you are bound to improve.

“My first Champions League match against Benfica was unbelievable, that gave me a taste for the big time then the Barcelona match was wonderful.”

On a personal note the voting is underway for Celtic’s player of the year with Lustig admitting that it will be a tough decision who to vote for.

“Fraser Forster was probably the biggest figure helping us to reach the Champions League,” the defender added. “He saved us in the first game against Helsingborgs.

“Then there is Kelvin (Wilson) who has been good all season then Victor, Charlie, Gary, I can go through a lot of players but really this season in the Champions League we have performed well as a team.”
