Kris Commons Celtic newsKris Commons is fighting fit for today’s Scottish Cup Final clash with Hibs.

The free scoring midfielder has been battling against injury in recent weeks and missed out on SPL title presentation against St Johnstone due to a virus.

Commons at his best is a matchwinner at any level with the 29-year-old looking forward to playing a full part in today’s Hampden showpiece.

“I was a sick man the day we received the SPL trophy,” he recalled. “A nasty little stomach bug.

“The doctor gave me a few pills and I got out on the pitch. I got the trophy, had some champagne then it was off to my bed by seven o’clock.

“You work hard pre-season, work throughout the campaign, score goals … everything you put in is for that day when you lift the trophy with the family around you on the pitch.

“I just thought there’s no point in me doing everything then missing out on the icing on the cake.

“It was magic to see all the fans and show my appreciation of their support, lift the trophy and get my medal.

“Now we’re at the last game, hopefully the sun will be out and the grass will be lush. It’s stuff like that you remember from when you were eight or nine, in the house watching the FA Cup Final or another big game on TV.

Commons made his Celtic debut at Hampden, scoring in a 4-1 win over Aberdeen in January 2011.

The national stadium hasn’t provided many happy memories since then for Celtic with the former Derby midfielder well aware of how painful defeat can be.

Anyone can beat anyone on any given day so we will be focused.

“Everything we’ve done last week, leading up to the game, is paying attention to detail and doing a professional preparation,” Commons added.

“I have played three finals and lost two and when you think about the goals we have conceded, it has been our own doing.

“Just switching off , not concentrating at that certain point. We have been there before so we need to rectify that.”

C’mon bhoys, lets win this today with a bit of style.

We write the history not the MSM. All I’ve read from the hacks is Hampden hoodoo’s, defeat will be a disgrace and derogatory remarks about Lenny if he doesn’t win the double.

Unlike these inbreds I’m looking forward to a great game. Hibs to their credit can be a right handful on their day especialy if Griffiths has got his shooting boots on.

So lets all go on holiday, and in the bars shout loudly to the barman “A DOUBLE MAGNERS PLEASE” and watch any orcs in the vicinity sink into their pints.

HAIL HAIL THE CELTS ARE HERE!!!!!!
