Regan gets bumper payrise

|

Stewart Regan newsStewart Regan has picked up a £33,000 pay rise taking his 2012 salary to £280,425.

During the year in which he predicted social unrest if Rangers weren’t given a place in the First Division Regan has pocketed a 13.5% salary hike.

Accounts seen by the Daily Record show that the SFA wage bill has risen by almost £1m to £6,105,249 with 178 people employed through Hampden- up 30 on 2011.

The accounts have been released ahead of the AGM of the SFA on June 11 and are circulated to all members from the SPL to the Highland League and junior clubs.

One club chairman told the Record: “More clubs than ever face going to the wall and Scotland have no chance of reaching the World Cup.

It is astonishing the SFA see fit to award such an inflated salary to the chief executive and take on more staff.

Regan spoke about ‘Armageddon’ last summer but his concerns ring hollow when he has been happy to accept an increase in salary.”

In the heat of the Rangers crisis last summer Regan told The Scotsman: “Without Rangers, there is social unrest and a big problem for Scottish society.

“They have a huge fan base and to contemplate the situation where those fans don’t have a team to support, where those fans are effectively left without a game to follow, I just think that could lead to all sorts of issues, all sorts of problems for the game.

“Tribalism in football is really important. It is part of the game. People follow their clubs with pride, it is passed down from generation to generation.

“There are thousands of Rangers fans whose fathers and parents and grandfathers have been Rangers fans. You can’t contemplate a situation without that and if Rangers weren’t to exist that could have real dire consequences.

“There is a lot of emotion around this subject because Rangers are a huge institution in Scottish football history and they are where they are. Their fans have been hurt, they don’t know what’s happening.”

Following the failed bid to provide newco Rangers with a First Division place a number of club chairmen were critical of Regan who is expected to receive a tough time at the AGM.

The Man Should do the decent thing and go, he is an absolute disgrace to be given a pay rise of over 13% for doing nothing but try and get sevco kept in the SPL, as i say he sould go and take the rest with him. Good luck to the Bhoys tomorrow make mine a double

I don’t know anyone who has had more than a 5% pay rise in the last 10 years.

    Maybe its a ‘Loyalty’ bonus….(cough)……

Again… quele surprise!!! I’m afraid we are the fools as are the clubs. Yet again we are being laughed at by the governing bodies as demonstrated through their ‘I’m worth it’ policy.

As always not a damn thing will happen and we’ll plod on as ever. As a paying football supporter I now feel I am being let down by my club and country. Why should my money go towards someone who won’t stand up for what I want?

We stood together and told our clubs that newco weren’t welcome. Are we able to stand together again and offer the same stance to the ivory tower? When will Mr Lawell actually come out and say something on the state of our game? When will someone actually grow a set and effect change?

It’s not a bad deal, is it? Getting £280K a year for most of the time keeping his stupid Yorkshire mouth shut or for occasionally reading out Campbell ‘sleeps in a coffin’ Ogilvie’s prepared statements. Nice work, if you can get it.

It’s disgusting and shameful, and an insult to everyone in Scotland that loves football.

Totally agree para. Sadly I can’t see anyone taking the initiative and getting shit done. Carte blanche to carry on as always. Shameful!

There we have in writing an Appeasement To Ibrox and An Official Give-Way sign to the Knuckle Draggers Which Alone should Mean only one thing ,and that Is to Sack Regan.

I think we should accept this own Goal for what It Is ,an Acknowledgement of fear of rangers by a Frightened and incompetent Individual,Who I refuse to term as a Man.

We all knew he was taking the Thirty Pieces of Silver and now we see and read Why. Over To you Celtic Board to do what the Celtic Supporters want and demand Regan Resigns after such an obvious Surrender ,there isnt a more Apt Word to describe this shocking Attitude.
