michel platiniUEFA President Michel Platini has explained that Financial Fair Play is to prevent clubs following Rangers into liquidation.

English football chiefs seem suspicious of the motives behind FFP believing that it is being brought in by factions jealous of the financial might of the Premiership.

The Daily Mail has been among Platini’s strongest critics but were granted a personal interview ahead of tonight’s Champions League Final at Wembley during which the Frenchman described clubs’ spending beyond their means as cheating.

“Financial fair play is to protect the club, it is to protect the club from the bankrupt,’ Platini explained. “It’s not a matter to be more competitive. Financial fair play is to put regulation.

“If you want to buy a Ferrari, if you have the money, you buy a Ferrar. If you don’t have the money, you can’t buy the Ferrari. In football if you do not have the money, you can buy the Ferrari, the player and you pay him and everything, and you win – cheating.

“That is not correct. My job is to regulate this situation. It’s not to have a better competition, it’s to protect the club.

“Glasgow Rangers, Portsmouth and many others, they are in big bankrupt and they will disappear.

“That was my point. But this is also very interesting and it could be a reflection for me next time. To put more competition.”

In a transcript of the interview Platini added: “To not to spend more money than we receive. That is the only thing, it is a small sentence, but is a very, very beautiful sentence. And what’s happened with Rangers, Rangers have everything, they have the fans, they have the public, but they are pshht and bankrupt.

“And I have to protect them. I think with this financial fair play we will not have clubs that will be getting in difficulty.”

Yesterday UEFA announced that from 2014 the winners of the Europa League will be given a place in the Champions League.

Is it not time that Platini, (great player that he was ), should stop acting like an overweight, overpaid buffoon and use the power he has, to do, and not warn.

What is the the point of a warning to others re the predicadment of the now extinct club without having done a proper investigation into their stranglehold over Scottish football and the media in this small minded country?

For as long as EUFA refrains from calling into task, the conduct of the Scottish football authorities re the methods used to allow the now extinct club to carry on with a different name and a special licence, it opens the door for those in other countries to act in a similar manner.

I would say to Platini, stop warning and start acting. If they do not, then let them be honest and say “we do not have the power”

Unlike years ago when a team from the East End of Glasgow were forced to go to replay a tie because of an Austrian cheat.

I have a great admiration for Platini. Unlike former greats like Charlton, pele and Beckenbauer he has got into the higher echelons of footballs governing body and as an ex player I tend to listen carefully to what he has to say.

It’s a well known fact that he’s touting for the presidency of FIFA so the mere fact he’s comming out publicly and condemning sevco should prick the ears of the SFA.

This to me is a paper cut which in itself is not that damaging but add it to the thousands of other paper cuts inflicted on sevco then it weakens them still further.

UEFA don’t need to be informed of how shameful the Govan club are after Manchester I think they have had their tabs on them so if they ever get back into European competition I think they will be as welcomed as a fart in a spacesuit.

    Hail hail

No disrespect to you re this issue.

But has he really condemned the extinct club?

He has only suggested that warnings be given in lieu of their conduct.

Will only accept his credibilty and that of EUFA, when they ask the SFA to give a full explanation as to why that extinct club were allowed associate membership.

If everything was open and above board, would pose this question?

Why were they not allowed full membership? If all was well there should have been no problem.

Does this show signs of a cover up? Would suggest that this is the case.

That is why I question the alledged power of EUFA.

Are they afraid, like the Shocking Scottish Media to enter into a situation which might be detrimental to those who continue to ply their wares in Glasgow South West?

Until they act, I will continue to believe that they are powerless.

I appreciate your point. UEFA really have done all they can do at this point by banning them from European competition. However there’s more investigations going on at mordor than took place after Nurnburg after WWII.

So I appreciate they look a bit impotent at the moment and can only “paper cut” as I said but at least he has made it clear he’s aware of the dirty dealings at mordor more than we can say about our own corrupted authorities.

Have no problems with how you see things, have nothing other than respect for your point. If everyone thought the same way, there would be no need for debate.

Still think, and I know you will accept that I feel EUFA should have moved in earlier.

Scottish football has been landed with a noose round their neck, thanks to the cowardice shown last season in allowing these people to continue in the business.

I make a point of mentioning BUSINESS.

Where else in the world of commerce, and I would include funded voluntary and charities, would a company been allowed to continue without showing properly audidted accounts?

Only here: That is the reason that I am so angry with the parent organsation (EUFA), they should have questioned the Scottish Football Authories, they should have demanded that they give an account of their stewardship in respect of what would appear a club that had died, but they were allowed to be resurrected without any answers coming forth.

No, maybe a cynic, but have been made such. I would have expected more from EUFA.

I believe that UEFA have finally said something on the Rangers issue and to me this indicates that they are watching the SFA ( the issue that concerns Celtic) I hope they have given notice that they will become involved if appropriate and although it is easy to be critical UEFA”s position , UEFA has to be careful and cautious on how to proceed as the problem of financial fair play is not only a Scottish issue but a major European problem.

Platini”s comments about Rangers and Portsmouth are interesting, I hope this is a signal for the SFA to watch how they proceed with the Sevco issue of Whyte and Green in partnership ,which most Celtic Supporters believe to be a fact.

If it does prove to be the case, or there are improper decisions are made by the Scottish Football Authorities then it will be up to the media and especially the social media to press UEFA for action

    • Joe says:

The SFA still think they are above the laws of the game. They really believe they are untouchable. They are that deep into the corruption that they have been preparing excuses for years.

As they continue their witchhunt on Neil Lennon and Celtic, they draw the rapidly declining game in Scotland further and further into the mire, and all to protect their blatant corruptions. It is impossible for uefa to monitor and police clubs as long as the association they are connected to ke covering up for them, to protect the mafia of SFA officials.

    • Thai Tim says:

I can assure you Platini has been talked to by very intelligent Celtic-minded people who havw explained everything to him. The masonic bigots can not bring themselves to realise that:

      A) There team is dead

      B) They are an embarrasing laughing stock.
