Willo Flood Celtic newsWillo Flood has signed a pre contract agreement to join Aberdeen.

The one-time Celtic midfielder has spent the last two seasons with Dundee United but will move to Pittodrie at the start of July.

Flood was bought by Gordon Strachan for Celtic and Middlesbrough- and left both clubs while Tony Mowbray was in charge!.

Announcing the deal Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes said: “I’ve always been a great admirer of Willo and he’s a player I am looking to make a real impact for Aberdeen next season.

“With his extensive SPL experience, he was voted player of the year for Dundee United last season, which speaks volumes about his ability.

“We are delighted to have him on board as we look towards building a squad capable of bringing success back to the club.”

Flood will join former Celtic team-mate Niall McGinn at Pittodrie with Barry Robson also believed to be a target for Aberdeen.

Robson spent the second part of last season with Sheffield United after a brief spell in the MLS.

If Robson joins Aberdeen it will mean that he’ll have played alongside Flood at four different clubs having already teamed up together at Dundee United, Celtic and Middlesbrough.

With the season now over the first transfer deals of the summer have taken place- with no transfer fees involved.

Hibs have signed defender Ryan McGivern on a permanent deal from Manchester City after a year on loan to the Scottish Cup runners-up.

McGivern will be joined at Easter Road by Owain Tudor-Jones who made 39 appearances for Inverness Caley Thistle.

We never gave Willo a chance.

    I always liked him…..

  • Declan Forde says:

It’s a mystery why he never “made it” at Celtic. I’ve always admired his skill at opening up defences and Jon Daly profited from Willo’s silky passing ability..Perhaps he wasn’t robust enough.! ! !

Because he was utter rubbish!! This was the end of the Strachan regime when we werent even signing the best of the SPL…dont kid yourselves…this guy was woeful.

  • Sweeney Hughes says:

Imo, he’s turned into quite the nasty wee nyaff in rescent seasons.
Not a ‘Celtic player’ in my eyes.
