Graham Carey St Mirren newsFormer Celt Graham Carey will quit St Mirren on Sunday.

The midfielder has made 30 appearances this season but will move on to England in the summer.

Carey joined Celtic straight from school in Dublin but made only one first team appearance- as a substitute in the Europa League tie away to Rapid Vienna under Tony Mowbray.

During his time at Celtic he had loan spells with Bohemians, Huddersfield and St Mirren before joining the Paisley side on a permanent basis.

Carey appeared as a substitute during St Mirren’s League Cup Final win over Hearts in March and picked up the SPL goal of the season for a goal against the same Edinburgh side.

While Carey is moving on St Mirren are hoping to persuade Paul McGowan to extend his deal with the club.

McGowan picked up the man-of-the-match award in the League Cup Final and has been watched in recent weeks by a number of Championship clubs.

During his six years at Celtic he made eight appearances with his only goal the equaliser in the 3-3 draw with Rapid Vienna where he was joined by Carey.

Despite winning their first trophy in 27 years it’s likely that there will be major changes at St Mirren during the summer with Paul Dummet and Conor Newton returning to Newcastle after loan spells.

Goalkeeper Craig Samson is also out of contract and has attracted interest from Motherwell who are on the look out for a new keeper after Darren Randolph agreed to join Birmingham City.
