SPFL make their first concession for Sevco

David Longmuir newsThe newly formed SPFL have made their first concession towards Sevco by watering down their rules on trialists.

A draft of the rules and regulations for the merged SPL and SFL showed that no trialists would be eligible for league fixtures- following the workings of the SPL rather than the SFL.

However, just days after forming, the SPFL are about to do a u-turn on that ruling with the news leaked to Sevco friendly STV Sport- the preferred broadcaster of both Craig Whyte and Charles Green while they called the shots at Ibrox.

According to a report on their website: “STV understands that regulation has been amended for the final copy of the rules, which will come into effect when all 42 clubs unite under one umbrella later this month.

“The news will be of particular interest to Rangers who have agreed to sign a raft of new players when the club’s registration embargo ends on September 1.

“Manager Ally McCoist had intended to field Nicky Law, Nicky Clark, Jon Daly, Cammy Bell and Arnold Peralta as trialists in league games before that date, only for that to be cast into doubt.

“All five players will now be eligible to play in a maximum of three SPFL games prior to their registration on September 1, with Rangers allowed to name up to two of the players on their teamsheet for any given match.

“Trialists will not be allowed to play in top flight games in the new league but it is understood all clubs in the other three leagues can continue to field unregistered players until March 31 of the year in which the season ends.”

In a further boost to help the Third Division champions as they move up a division the report added: “The current SFL rule which places a limit upon the number of players aged over 21 in a club’s squad will not be included in the new SPFL regulations.”

It’s believed that the rule changes came about following discussions between David Longmuir, Neil Doncaster and Sandy Bryson.

Further talks are expected to explain how players who have signed lucrative long term contracts can be described as trialists.

    FFS!!!!
Is there no end to the cheating that is going on to help this new team!!!

  • Mark says:

it is beyond blatant, what would be really sweet is if every time they played the opposition fans didnt show in protest and in recognition of their true status as utter contemptible cheatin cunts SFL SPL SFA AND SEVCO

  • tonedog says:

Just what we expect from an organisation hell bent on having their beloved institution back to where they imagine they belong? Who cares if they continue to embaress this country its allowed! Tell you what , why don’t we jst hand over every trophy jst to keep them and the gutter press happy? I mean if you can dodge paying anyone and get annuled then whatever next?

  • Stevie says:

Honestly we shouldn’t expect anything other then complete disregard for any and all rules when Sevco are involved.
But if your a Celtic fan or a catholic from the north of Ireland expect the most severe of punishments.

  • mick says:

how can this be al fans should cancel season books til the proper rules are put in place that is fair to all who teams who play by the rules,
IF THIS LOT IS RULING THE GAME AFTER THE 27th ITS THE END GAME

    • Mark says:

Cancel the season book then what ? Nothing changes apart from every club going bust

  • Joe says:

It is funny how they have a habit of changing rules that only seem to benefit one club. For how long will Celtic stand by and just let these things happen.

  • Mark says:

Does it really matter, they are an embarrassment of a club buying SPL players spending 7m+ on wages and over a million for a useless back room staff just to win the 2nd division so don’t stress about them just mock them and remember when they drag there sorry state of a club back to the SPL we’ll be waiting, bigger better and a lot stronger HH

  • james says:

My problem is that Celtic and other clubs do not come out and condemn these parasites for changing the rules to suit the Sevco club.

  • hunscum says:

    cheating cunts haha

  • john says:

If they have already signed them up on contracts, then surely they can’t be played as trialists! Anyway they are light years behind us, can’t see them ever catching up with us.

    • paranoidandroid says:

If they don’t go bust, they will catch up, because they’ll keep bending the rules and cheating until they do.

If they don’t go bust, they’ll be back, just as ugly and embarrassing as they ever were, but now they’ll have learned that they don’t even have to hide their cheating anymore.

Do you think they’ll play fair to get into the CL?

  • Jack Meldrum says:

They are not very nice people at all!
They do not play by the rules.

  • Damien says:

Sorry, i disagree with the entire article.

The rules have remained the same – existing SFL rules allow a trialist to be fielded. Only the SPL do not allow them.

This is a non story that has been sensationalised. You should get a job writing for one of the rags!

  • neil says:

What is so annoying is the silence from Celtic park

  • Frank McGaaaarvey says:

Can anyone explain to me how a player who has just signed a 3 or 4 year contract be fielded as a trialist? What happens if they fail their ‘trial’? Will Norman Bates FC then pay them the remainder of their contract and then let them go?

    I am severely baffled.

    • Liamcfc says:

They’ve not signed anyone, they can’t until September. Hence trialists…
      Not sure of the confusion.

      • Sweeney Hughes says:

I thought there was a rule that players could only play for a team if they were signed during a transfer window.

  • Thomas says:

Celtonians, who cares about the Sevco, this info is from Sevco T V, boycott all SFA items and email all advertisers on Sevco T V and tell them you wont purchase anything advertised on S(evco)TV.

  • Tasp says:

    Scottish football is corrupt.

  • gav says:

buy your season book for Celtic. Not for the governing body. it makes no difference to them. lets move on and try to make Scottish football better! without the huns hopefully!!

  • Joe says:

Two corrupt groups of masons become one large corrupt group.

  • Zombie nation says:

They should be held to account regarding all the allegations being made all over the internet,Ogilvie is pulling the strings for the cheating thieving scumbag bastards!

  • Jhimmy T jnr. says:

Who gives a sh!t! People continue to be surprised when so many rules are bent for the Zombies.

Forget about them – we’re Scotlands # 1 and we plan on staying there. Anger and hatred leads to the dark side, lets concentrate on Celtic from now on.
