SPL slap Hearts on the wrist

Neil Doncaster newsThe SPL have hit Hearts with a registration ban- 24 hours after the club put their entire playing squad up for sale.

Showing the type of leadership that has been typical of Neil Doncaster’s reign the ban is virtually meaningless with the Edinburgh side expected to go into administration within days.

Earlier today it was confirmed that wages hadn’t been paid in full with the SPL springing into action with their slap on the wrist.

Their statement read: “The Scottish Premier League has been informed by Heart of Midlothian FC that the Club has failed to pay a number of its players on time today.

“This is a Remuneration Default in terms of the SPL Rules and the Club is therefore subject to an automatic transfer embargo while that Remuneration Default continues.

“The actions also indicate a potential breach of SPL rule A6.21 and a disciplinary hearing will be convened in due course.”

Yesterday the Gorgie side went public over the extent of their cash crisis with the finger of blame pointed at supporters reluctant to buy season tickets due to fears over administration.

If Hearts go into administration season ticket money will be lost forcing fans to pay again if they want to want to watch their side next season- if they are still in business.

Hearts stunt of claiming to have signed Danny Wilson from Liverpool should be of more concern to the SPL with the revelation that Wilson hasn’t been registered with the SFA.

Wilson was cynically paraded and touted as a signing in the midst of a campaign to sell season tickets giving fans the impression that the club was in a stable position.

With the SPL and SFL about to merge surely now should be the time when club squads are displayed online 365 days a year to prevent clubs trying to dupe supporters with bogus signings.

The new organisation have also shown who they are looking after already, it seems Deadco are going to allowed to play their new players before Sept 1st, so this 12 month signing ban was another load of bollox, how the hell can Dungcaster think he has a chance of being the new SPFL chief? probably because he, Regan and Ogilvie have made such an arse of everything else I suppose.

Farce, it’s the only word that comes adequately close to describing this shambles. And I mean both the spl and hearts

Who cares? I don’t think any of their squad would be good enough for Celtic anyway.

  • Mike Bhoyle says:

How many more embarrassing stunts will this mob produce?
To say that they do not….Have a clue….doesn’t come close.
Where are UEFA in all this…?
Between the Govan Club and their second string from Edinburgh…the whole thing is a farce.

The slow death of the gorgie Huns is great a hope it drags on for just a bit longer hh

I don’t see the problem here. Hearts failed to pay the players wages and the SPL applied the sanction that is set in place for the offence . . . a transfer embargo. The fact that Hearts have put their entire playing staff up for sale is completely irrelevant. I am no fan of the SPL but I think this story is scraping the barrel somewhat. Is a bit of perspective too much to ask?
