Victor Wanyama newsVictor Wanyama’s £12.5m move to Southampton seems to have pleased everyone!

Both clubs and the player seem pleased with the business while Celtic supporters and players seem in unison that it’s a good move for all involved.

Celtic striker Gary Hooper tweeted his former team-mate: ‘All the best bossman’ with the midfielder responding with: ‘cheers goal machine.

Wanyama used the most fan friendly media to express his feelings about the move tweeting: ‘The club as been great you fans incredible… 67 will always be in my HEART. I hope you wish me well.

“I have a day of mixed emotion.happy to play in EPL,honoured to be the 1st Kenyan to play in EPL…But VERY SAD TO leave PARADISE.

“Thanks for the support you gave me and the songs too.”

Wanyama’s transfer is the perfect example of Celtic’s transfer model with Neil Lennon looking forward to re-investing the money and perhaps discovering another Victor.

The Celtic boss tweeted: “Would like to wish Victor Wanyama the best in his future..he was a wonderful player for Celtic.”

From the same hymn sheet @terry_obrien86 added: ” Just shows you don’t always have to spend millions to get a good player. #Wanyama was a great piece of business by @OfficialNeil.”

Hoops fan @MrMacFunn got it spot on with: “#Wanyama will go onto great things. However he won’t get a better club than Celtic. Great signing for Southampton.”

Another fan @notleks_nobad caught the mood with: “The fans reaction to #Wanyama on departing the club is simply amazing. EVERYONE wants to see him do well. ON YERSEL VIC !!!

Celtic’s official website stated: “He leaves Celtic with the best wishes and support of everyone at the Club as our own preparations continue for the new season.”

Good luck with the relegation battle !

  • KevinBarry says:

I reckon 1-2 years with Southampton then a massive transfer to a champs league contender. For his age his ability is phenomenal. I wish him all the best.

For me beram kayal is a better all round player. And we should remember before his long list of injuries kayal was been touted as a £10 million player. Hopefully we will see the best of our Israeli now he is fully fit. HH.

    • Mark says:

      It gets better Dhougal.
A fat baw faced currant just got pumped aff Pointless.
When asked who his team was he said ‘there’s only one team in Glasgow, Partick Thistle’. ……….wi as straight a face as his big bawheid could muster,AFPMSL!

Brassneck and blowtorch spring to mind, lol.

Fantastic bit of business all round at CP, two fantastic seasons from the big chap, reward of the best part of 12mill in the Hoops coffers and a thoroughly deserved dream move to the epl for Victor (a better league, but he’ll never play for a better team)

The huns must be ‘absholootly gutted’!!

      HH

      • yogi says:

You better believe that they are gutted,That tube on Pointless shows how much and He represents that toxic outfit perfectly.

  • Darbhoy says:

cant believe you even compared wanyama and kayal in the same league. kayal cant pass a ball forward gives away far too many frees. would love to see the back of him

    • Mark says:

It’s the sun mate, makes people delusional although I hope he stays when fit he’s a good player HH

  • Sweeney Hughes says:

Ps. On the BK debate, it will be a big ask for BK to step into Victors shoes, but I for one think he will come good.
We really shouldn’t be putting the screws on the Bhoy before a balls been kicked in ernest this season.
Let’s get behind him and give him the support Celtic fans are world famous for.

    HH Biram Kayal

Now you are Talking,This Is a forum for Celtic Supporters to Agree or Disagree while showing respect for all views.Good luck to Big Stroller Down south, give them hell son.

  • Pyewacket1888 says:

All good points bhoys. You watch kayal step up to the plate this season. Injury free he’s a gifted powerhouse in that midfield. HH.

  • Thai Tim says:

After the dismal pre-season friendly results, how about an article on how the money we got for Wanyama should be spent? We need a solid centre half, creative attacking mifielder, a holding midfielder and a striker IMO. Would Christophe Berra fit in at centre half? A Scottish international for free? If we struggle against Clftonville I can’t see us qualifying for the group stages of the CL without at least a couple of first class signings.

    • Mark says:

Preseason mate calm down, it’s a kick about nothing more a think we’ve had 1 good preseason in about 10 and that was under tony Mowbray and look how that turned out so a wouldn’t worry we’ve not played out 1st 11 but we will against cliftonville and win with a few to spare although its good winning these games it makes no difference to be honest. Berra is a dud playing for Scotland doesn’t make him any better sevco where after him that’s the kind of shite they go for not for me would rather have Stephen McManus back than Berra HH

      • Thai Tim says:

Mark, you talk a lot of sense and I’m trying to calm down 🙂 … BUT …. I’m 57 years old – I remember watching Celtic beat Man Utd 4-1 in a pre season friendly, Bobby Charlton, Georgie Best, Nobbie Stiles, Pat Crerrand etc. Jock Stein said “Celtic don’t play friendlies” – sorry – these results against German 2nd division opposition are an embarrassment to our club and show us how low we have sunk.

  • Sweeney Hughes says:

    Sack the bored.

  • Sweeney Hughes says:

Thai tim, were you in McNees that night the scum erupted when the Soldiers Song came on?

    • Thai Tim says:

Sweeny Hughes – I’ve no idea what your talking about. McNees? What’s that? A pub? Where? Why you ask? Here is what I have to say – it’s a sad day when Celtic fans rejoice the loss of a great player such as Victor Wanyama to a small club such as Southampton or any other team for that matter. I would have been much more impressed if we had matched Southamptons wage of 30,000 per week and put Wanyama on a 4/5 year contract by which time we would have had him playing for us and he will be worth double 12.5 million by the time he reaches his prime @ 25 years old. (BTW – double = 25 million)

  • Sweeney Hughes says:

    Are you sure about that?

  • Sweeney Hughes says:

    I rest my case.

    HH
