Stewart Regan’s Ibrox wish

Stewart Regan newsStewart Regan has spoken out about his wish to see Rangers ‘back in a stronger place.’

Despite the shambles of the last 18 month, a plunging share price, supporter revolt and the very real threat of administration before the season ends it seems that the SFA chief is immune to the realities of the situation created by the secretive five way agreement manufactured in July 2012.

At a media conference to highlight the dangers of gambling within football the subject turned to the situation at Ibrox on the day that one million shares were traded for 24p- a 60% fall on the price paid at the share floatation 13 months earlier.

The share price is expected to be under further pressure today with some experts predicting that it to fall below 20p by the close of business on Friday.

Despite all that evidence Regan fails to grasp the reality of Scottish football in 2014 with the plans of the SFA tied in with the unlikely scenario of a club from Ibrox playing in the top division as soon as possible.

“As far as Rangers’ position is concerned clearly there is a lot of work that Graham Wallace is putting in place to get the club back to a stronger place,” the SFA chief explained. “I sincerely hope he’s successful. It’s good for Scottish football to have the club back on a firm financial footing.

“He needs all the support he can get to get that in place. It’s a big challenge. We’ll wait and see what comes in. We’ve spoken to Graham in the way you would speak to most of the clubs that have got challenges ahead of them.

“So we’ve had an opportunity to talk about some of the challenges he faces. You can’t underestimate the work he’s got ahead of him.

“From a financial point of view, until we get our new Financial Fair Play rules in place, we don’t really drill down to the management accounts and we don’t drill down into saying what a club can and can’t spend its money on.

“One of the proposals which is currently being debated is putting in place a measure which would restrict the amount spent on wages. That’s one of the elements being discussed.”

With Hearts heading in the same direction as Rangers (IL) it looks like being another year of turmoil for the football authorities as they adapt the rules to meet their commercial interests.

While Regan and his side-kick Neil Doncaster fail to find new employers confidence in Scottish football from supporters and sponsors will remain at an all-time low.

Meanwhile discussions are continuing between concerned Celtic shareholders and the club about the decision in 2011 to grant Rangers (IL) a licence to play in European football despite having overdue tax payments. If the licencing rules had been properly applied Celtic would have taken part in Champions League qualifiers giving the club the opportunity to reach the lucrative group stages.

    Aye,

There is only one club that will be affected by a wages restriction at the minute and thats the club that have their accounts in order. Good one Stewart!!!!

“we don’t drill down into the management accounts”, of course not, especially at sevco!!

  • frankiebhoy58 says:

There will be absolutely no chance of the FFP being put in place before the Ibrox club are either gone, again, or are in the top flight. To do so would put them on a level playing field with the other teams in their league, and that wouldn’t do at all. I can’t see the current crop of first team players at Ibrox playing for the same money as the mechanics, joiners and electricians they are usually up against at present. FAIR PLAY INDEED!!!

    Regan is a cretin!
    A disgrace!

  • paranoidandroid says:

Every football fan in Scotland needs answers about why the oldco were licenced to play in Europe in 2011. That was obvious corruption.

And I don’t understand why our board seem to be complicit in trying to cover this up. Other than they too want a healthy club at Ibrox- at any cost.

      Para,

      Good point re licence.

Why did Lawwell not challenge this at the
      time ?
Our board FAILED in their duties, to.both
shareholders and fans, by not involving
      UEFA.

As for Regan, ” he needs all the support he can get “,
Is this the same joker who said, ” without
fear or favour ” when dealing with the
      deid club?

He is as well as saying, support on the
park will come from referees ( as usual )
and support off the park, will come from
the SFA, who will continue to bend every
      rule for them.

CORRUPT to the core, for the establishments club ( be it old or new )

If the English Championship offered Celtic
a place ( not without possibility ) our club
would grow massively, and would be one
of the main players, in the European game.

Leaving behind the BITTERNESS, of the
Scottish game, would be the MAKING of
      our club.

      HAIL HAIL !!

I agree Para and can’t believe the club hasn’t raised concerns about Dougie McDonalds re-emergence as refs advisor at SFA.

At what job/occupation anywhere in the world would you see someone resigning or getting sacked (sorry cant remember which )only to resurface some time later at the same organisation but in a more senior position.

  • sligotim says:

How can he say such things, theres people who have never had apoligy from deadco not paying debts due them, also why have those people not demanded investigation into the affairs of deadco, god only knows if this hand been us just thing what they would have done kicked out no licence,

  • Matt"a"Bhoy says:

Well it’s official now the SFA have acknowledged the huns never died

As far as Rangers’ position is concerned clearly there is a lot of work that Graham Wallace is putting in place to get the club back to a stronger place,” the SFA chief explained. “

to get the club back……..in my opinion how can they get back if they have never played in the top flight…..

    hail hail

Messers Regan and Doncaster having watched Ally’s salary halved appear more than determined that the same fate will not befall them ! Both seem to me to be willing to sacrifice
any modicum of fairness, ethics or downright morality to protect their own self interest. Stewart, with inside info has broken cover to save Rangers 2. How often has he spoken to explain the five way agreement or other rule bending in past eighteen months. But out of desperation on his part, he now appears, to tell us all we have to save this shining example of how to shed your debt, be debt free, and then do it all again. Messers Regan and Doncaster are, and will be, the death of Scottish Football as a true sporting institution.

Resurrecting a Dead Club back to a stronger (Rightful) place.Nothing has changed by S f a .No integrity,No justice and no recompense or apologies to all Creditors.Shameful.

  • OZ CELT aka Davie Bhoy says:

    Joe,
Any further info on the discussions between the board and the shareholders?

  • Stephen says:

    The following comment:

“One of the proposals which is currently being debated is putting in place a measure which would restrict the amount spent on wages. That’s one of the elements being discussed.”

This will be introduced to stop Celtic paying higher wages for better players, therefore helping Rangers claw back the advantage on the playing field!?

  • Eebee says:

Exactly what is Mr Regans role/remit within the esablishment,he has achieved zilch since joining the SFA brotherhood other than tryin to curry favour with super Sally and laptop loyal.Let us have real impartiality starting at the highest level(assuming Sally agrees the names).

  • jimbo102 says:

When I was a wee bhoy and used to hear my Da and the men say ” the SFA aye the Scottish Freemasons Association “, I didn’t really understand what that meant. Since those days I’ve grown to know exactly what they meant.

Ask yourself, how many Celtic minded people have held prominent posts at the SFA? To my mind none but I could rhyme off a litany of hun minded going back to the sixties. Don’t count Peter Lawell’s current post as thats absolute peripheral.

From issues like the George Cadette affair to allowing the huns time off to prepare for Euro ties but denying Celtic the same, the organisation is corrupt from the top to the bottom.

I support the national team and I am so proud of every Celtic player who has doned the dark blue as they have succeeded in environments where all the odds are against them. Expanding this how many ex Celtic men have managed the National side in its entire history? To my mind three. Tommy Docherty, Jock Stein and Gordon Strachan. All hired through gritted teeth by the way. Contrast that with three of the last six being ex huns Brown, MuckLeesh and the Cardigan. There’s many I could mention but the two I will are Tommy Burns and Billy McNeil, why were they never given the top job????

Regan is a parasite in a long line of parasites that we have had to confront through our history, there will be many more in the future but one things for certain their breed will die before we will.
    hail hail

  • gert/canada says:

Lets if we can find out how many where interviewed for the post that Dougie, Dougie has just been appointed to. A development post or something of that nature. And does the vacancies of other positions in this organization get put out publicly or does these positions get posted on other notice boards .
I would just love to know this.
