Neil Lennon trophyNeil Lennon has dismissed claims that he is about to quit Celtic.

Headlines this morning suggested that the hoops boss was considering his future as he discussed whether he could do any more at Celtic.

Lennon has never hidden his ambition to manage in the English Premiership but with a casualty rate approaching 50% the opportunity and salary does have come with other issues.

In a pre-match interview with Radio Scotland Lennon said that he hoped to be around to build another team at Celtic with the Irishman clear about this mornings’ reports when he was asked his views after Celtic’s 3-0 win over St Johnstone.

“I don’t know where they came from,” he replied. “I was asked ‘Do you think you have taken the club as far as you can?’ and I said well maybe the last 16 is maybe as far as we can go for the time being, so I think it was taken completely out of context.

“I hope I will be here for the long haul. I haven’t changed my mind on anything. I’ve got work to do here.”

Celtic’s 3-0 win over St Johnstone went some way to lift the gloom caused by the Scottish Cup defeat from Aberdeen eight days earlier.

A hat-trick from Anthony Stokes and a promising debut from Leigh Griffiths put a smile on the face of the home support who enjoyed the return of the Green Brigade.

The supporters group have been missing from Celtic matches over the last two months but re-emerged today in Section 118 rather than their traditional location of 111.

It’s believed that the tickets were bought on an individual basis with the season ticket holders in 111 still suspended from that area.

Three, proper, midfield players in the midfield today, let’s hope we stick to that for the majority of our games: We don’t have billions to spend on players, so we need to get the basics right.

    Joe,

As usual the MSM up to their tricks again.
This is a feelgood headline for the Zombies. They despise Neil, and would love
nothing better to see him leave the Scottish Champions.

But it aint gonnae happen.Yes,the cup defeat was a sore one. However, our biggest games of the season ARE Champions League qualifiers. Not cup games,or games against the Ibrokes mob.

This is where the money made, benefits the team,by getting a better standard of
player.Scouting has to GET BETTER., wasting good money on sub-standard
players, affects the quality of the team.We
    all know who I mean.

Lenny will answer his critics. His passion
for our club, will drive him on, to have
more SUCCESS,at the club he loves.

Just think, our newspapers take a giant leap and completely twist what Neil Lennon said.

    Would you believe it!

    • vino says:

Of course the media are completely twisted and some reporters are anti-Celtic. HAIL HAIL THE CELTIC THE CHAMPIONS.

  • Carntyne says:

Although Stokes was rightly made man of the match, I thought Griffiths had made a brilliant debut and was unlucky not to score.

His movement and work rate are a joy to watch after watching Balde and Pukki splutter and misfire up front.

    • paranoidandroid says:

Good point. He really unsettled the St Johnstone defence by getting in about them, and his runs made a lot of space for other people- two things that haven’t happened with us for far too long.

  • Thomas Haverstock says:

Well done Celtic great team all round Biton what a class player Welcome back the Green Brigade what a difference they make Hail Hail JMJ
