Roy Keane 1Roy Keane has described the joy of beating Rangers (IL) at Ibrox as f****** electric!

In February 2006, with Hearts mounting a serious challenge for the title, Celtic traveled across the city with an all Irish midfield of Neil Lennon and Keane.

Six months earlier the Ibrox men had beaten Celtic 3-1 with the honest mistakes starting with a red card for Alan Thompson and ending with Lennon getting summoned to Stuart Dougal’s room for a retrospective red card that led to a four match ban.

Keane had watched Celtic from the stand at Ibrox and cruised through the 90 minutes picking up the man-of-the-match award with Maciej Zurawski scoring the only goal of the game in the 12th minute.

The latest book from the Irish legend has been full of blockbuster stories with his memories from Ibrox among the sweetest.

“I was man of the match, I got a yellow card for a foul of Dado Prso and they were baying for a red card,” he recalled with pride.

“The atmosphere was brilliant, f****** electric. The hatred, I enjoyed all that.

“The dressing room afterwards was great. I met great people at Celtic from John Clark to the late Tommy Burns. I’ve no regrets about signing. It’s a brilliant club.”

Keane made 13 appearances for Celtic after being released by Manchester United and retired from playing at the end of the season.

In May 2006 over 25,000 Celtic fans turned up at Old Trafford for his testimonial match in which he played 45 minutes for each club.
