John Guidetti 3John Guidetti can look forward to playing in the u-21 European Championships at the end of the season.

The striker was instrumental in Sweden’s 4-1 win over France to overturn a 2-0 defeat in the first leg.

After the match Guidetti revealed a t-shirt dedicated to Pontus Segerstrom, the 33-year-old captain of Brommapojkarna who died of a brain tumour on Monday, and tweeted: “This is for u my brother , my captain R.I.P pontussegerstrm Saknad men Aldrig glömd.”

Guidetti will jet off to the Czech Republic for the eight team tournament that will be played between June 17 and 30.

After losing the first leg 2-0 on Friday the Swedes were up against the odds but two first half goals from Malmo striker Isaac Thelin leveled the tie on aggregate.

Guidetti set up Oscar Lewicki for a third Swedish goal in the 71st minute but it seemed as if France were heading through when Layvin Kurzawa scored in the 87th minute to put the visitors ahead on away goals.

Sweden weren’t to be denied an aggregate win with Lewicki scoring in the 88th minute with the fans in Halmstad delighted to hear the final whistle with their team through to the finals.

There was heartbreak however for Holmbert Fridjonsson as Denmark went out on a 1-1 aggregate with Denmark. The Danes scored in the 90th minute through Nicolaj Thomsen and although Fridjonsson, on loan to Brondby from Celtic, scored from a penalty in the third minute of stoppage time there was to be no winning goal.

Missing from the line-up in the Czech Republic will be Spain who lost 2-1 at home to Serbia to go out by that scoreline on aggregate.

Also joining hosts Czech Republic in the finals will be Germany, Italy, England and Portugal. All of the semi-finalists qualify for the 2016 Olympics in Brazil.
