RacingThere can only be one response to a request from Racing Club to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of kicking the Lisbon Lions black and blue- no thanks.

Reports from Argentina suggest that Racing have made contact with Celtic to play a match in honour of the brutal 1967 World Club Champions!

Taking the club to new markets and working with charities may be part of Celtic 2014 but any co-operation with Racing in 2017 must be a complete no-no after the brutality of the previous matches against the Argentinian boot boys.

After a kicking at Hampden salvaged by a single goal from Billy McNeill Celtic headed to Argentina anticipating the sort of tactics that had spoiled Argentina’s play at the 1966 World Cup.

Alf Ramsey described the Argentinian’s as animals after England’s 1-0 quarter final win with that quote awaiting Celtic as they flew into South America for the two most brutal matches in the club’s history.

Over two matches, one in Buenos Aires and a play-off in ‘neutral’ Montevideo, the Lisbon Lions were kicked off the park in 180 minutes that had nothing to do with the beautiful game.

Will the 2017 Celtic side have to play with their second choice keeper after the first choice gets struck on the head by a piece of metal/bottle/brick thrown before the match from home supporters?

Will the Celtic dressing room be attacked after the match?

Will any Celtic fans at the match be grateful for a defeat in order to get out of the stadium alive after being abused and attacked throughout the match?

Across the river in Montevideo the hostilities continued as Racing won the trophy they coveted more than the game of football itself as the game descended further into farce with a flurry of red cards.

Any request from Racing to celebrate 2017 should be put in the file considering similar requests from Atletico Madrid and Rapid Vienna.
