Ronny DeilaRonny Deila is confident that Scott Brown will be available to face Hamilton Accies on Saturday.

The Celtic skipper picked up a third minute head injury during the 1-0 defeat from PSV Eindhoven in Gran Canaria and had to go to a hospital for treatment.

Brown missed the first two months of the season after pulling a hamstring in a friendly against Rapid Vienna but Deila is confident that there will be no repeat of that absence.

“It was is just a cut,” the Celtic manager said about his captain. “A couple of stitches and hopefully he’ll be back next weekend.

“I saw it was his head immediately because he was bleeding, He caught his foot and then he stumbled and put his head into the opponents’ knee.

“We’ll have a few more calm days where we can use some of the other players. The pitch was dry and not the best but we got a game and we didn’t have any major injuries. We played against a good team and that’s why we came here so I’m happy with that.”

Jason Denayer, Mikael Lustig and Charlie Mulgrew have all been out with long term injuries but weren’t risked on the fiery pitch.

Celtic face Sparta Prague on Tuesday before returning home with everyone needed for a demanding six week period that will go a long way to shaping how successful the season will be.

By the time Celtic reach the San Siro on February 26 the defeat from PSV Eindhoven will be forgotten but Deila did feel that the match had some value.

“I think it was quite an even game. We played a good opponent and that’s why we’ve come here.

“It was even in possession and chances but we got something out of it. The pitch wasn’t the best but that was the same for PSV.

“It was a bit of a messy game and we had to fight hard to get the ball back when we lost it so it was a test for a lot of players.”
