gazeboPlucky Sevco came within eight minutes of grabbing their first win under the Dave King regime but had to settle for a 2-2 draw against Alloa Athletic at Ibrox.

After a goal-less first half Ben Gordon opened the scoring for the visitors in the 53rd minute but Nicholas Clark scored in the 72nd and 77th minutes to put Stuart McCall’s side in front.

Alloa had only won one match since dumping Sevco out of the Petrofec Training Cup in December but found the energy to equalise in the 82nd minute through Liam Buchanan. In stoppage time Alloa brought on chunky striker Micheal Chopra.

The result leaves Sevco six points ahead of fifth placed Falkirk and the same distance behind second placed Hibs who they visit on Sunday.

Since Mr King took charge Sevco have drawn four matches, three of them against the bottom clubs in the division, with no sign of improvement since Mr McCall took over from Kenny McDowall.

Equally worrying for the man dubbed a glib and shameless liar by a South African judge was the lack of supporters parting with cash. No official attendance was given but reports from the match suggested that less than 30,000 fans bothered to attend.

With 23,000 season tickets sold the match will have brought in around £100,000 from the gate which will only increase concerns ahead of next week’s March payroll and suggestions that a major bill is due this week.

McCall made five changes to the side that held Livingston to a draw on Saturday but little seems to change regardless of the players involved.

Teenager Tom Walsh, making his third top team appearance, was the home side’s best player and is already bringing comparisons to a young John Fleck.

On Sunday Sevco travel to Hibs knowing that defeat will leave them trailing the Edinburgh side by nine points with eight games left to play- two of whom are against champions elect Hearts.
