Brown trophyCeltic have been crowned champions of Scotland for the fourth season running after Aberdeen lost 1-0 to Dundee United at Tannadice.

Ronny Deila’s side went 11 points clear with a 5-0 win over Dundee with Aberdeen’s defeat from Dundee United killing off the title hopes of Derek McInnes side with three matches left to play.

While most Celtic fans would have preferred to have watched their team clinch the title on the pitch Deila was happy to take the title any way possible.

Next Sunday Celtic travel to Aberdeen with nothing at stake other than pride with the hoops having won all three previous meetings between the clubs.

Dundee United had won just once in their previous eight matches but took the lead against Aberdeen through Robbie Muirhead in the 13th minute.

After his side’s win over Dundee Deila said: “We have shown great consistency since Christmas. We have lost one game in the league and had many good, solid performances, while we have hardly conceded any goals.

“We have shown we deserve to be on top and we will see if Dundee United can take some points from Aberdeen, but if not we will do everything we can to show we are the champions up there next weekend.

“I’m going to follow the game with my phone. I will have to make my speech to my kids before I know the result. I never expect anything.

“I know it’s hard to win there but Aberdeen are a good team and have been consistent. They have been pushing us all the way and we will see if they can continue doing that.”
