Trabzonspor of Turkey are the latest club to be linked with a move for John Guidetti!
The 23-year-old striker has the perfect pedigree for the summer with his agent in top form creating interest across Europe for his client.
Not long after starting to find the net at Celtic it seemed that Marseille were keen to sign him up with an unlikely move in January suggested. Interest from France seems to surface fairly regularly.
As that deal hit the rocks interest from Feyenoord came to light before the combination of signing-on fee and wages brought talks to a halt.
Portugal was the next port of call with a move to Sporting Lisbon following a similar pattern to the Feyenoord ‘transfer’.
Over the last two months his inevitable departure from Celtic has been confirmed, with talk of a permanent deal coming to a halt confirming the striker availability.
With Manchester City on his cv, scoring bursts at Celtic and Feyenoord and a regular place in Sweden’s u-21 squad there is no shortage of interest in Guidetti despite a couple of ‘missing’ seasons on his record between those spells in Holland and Scotland. A spectacular goal against Inter Milan in the Europa League won’t have gone unnoticed either.
Deila never fully closed the door on Guidetti despite the obvious stalemate over contract discussions.
After the 2-0 home win over Partick Thistle in April he said: “He worked really hard last night, and he was involved in a lot of our play. So I was happy with him. He performed well.
“I think he understands that it is not just about him scoring, but about what he does for the team. He is talking a lot about assists as well, which is good.”
Guidetti’s next move will define his career, whatever direction he takes his bank account won’t look too shabby.
