Champions LeagueJo Inge Berget is hoping for a return to Celtic when the draw is made for the play-off round of the Champions League.

Twelve months ago Berget was struggling to settle at Celtic after arriving on loan from Cardiff City just two days before the disastrous 4-1 defeat away to Legia Warsaw.

The 24-year-old slipped out the exit door in January joining Malmo on the back of two consecutive title wins and was voted man-of-the-match in last night’s dramatic comeback to send Salzburg crashing out on a 3-2 aggregate.

Malmo will be in the unseeded section of tomorrow’s Champions route with Berget not afraid of meeting up with the team-mates he left earlier this year.

It would be fun to play against Celtic because I have been there,” he told Swedish website skd. “I know several guys there, it could be exciting to play Celtic but there are many good teams that we could be drawn against.

Before we play our Champions League matches we have to do better in the league, on Sunday we need to get a win against Gothenburg.”

Malmo are currently sitting in sixth place in the Swedish league, seven points behind leaders IFK Gothenburg.

In Europe they saw off Zalgiris Vilnius on a 1-0 aggregate after drawing the first leg 0-0 at home before last night’s epic comeback against Salzburg.

Malmo are managed by 61-year-old Norwegian Age Hareide who was in charge of Helsingborgs when they lost to Celtic in the 2012 Champions League play-off.

Didn’t rate the guy at all when he was here, but must be doing well. Malmo got a brilliant result last nite, against a very good team. Despite it being a shorter journey to travel, personally I’d prefer not to get them on Fridays draw.
