Warburton MarkFurious Mark Warburton lost the plot last night after watching Sevco struggle to a 2-0 win over Ayr United in the Petrofac Training Cup.

Less than a month into the season the pressure is starting to tell on the rookie boss as the enormity of his club’s financial problems begin to hit home.

The failure to sign up John Eustace and Spurs starlet Harry Winks has clearly got to the former city trader, who used to work at his desk from 6am through to 11pm, with title rivals Hibs visiting Ibrox on Sunday.

Yesterday Alan Stubbs explained to Hibs TV that the Ibrox side were paying out substantial salaries to a number of imports from England with Warbo furious to discover his salary budget being discussed by others.

I heard that and I would suggest that any manager without the facts keeps his mouth shut and concentrates on his club, not worry about ours,” the 52-year-old fumed.

The key point for me is that we are very respectful of every club and every other manager. So unless you have any facts that I don’t know then concentrate on your own team, not ours. I know what we’ve spent and it’s a complete fallacy.

It must be easy to manage Man United and Real Madrid then, I guess. I’m not the brightest man in the world but it takes a lot more than that to wind me up, that’s for sure.”

After hitting out at Stubbs Warbo turned his anger on referee Stephen Finnie following the narrow win over Ayr.

Using a tired and predictable management tactic Warbo claimed one thing before going on to contradict himself saying the exact opposite.

I am not being controversial but as a referee you have to be consistent,” the Ibrox gaffer moaned.

There were some very poor challenges then that boy (former Luton Town loan starlet Nathan Oduwa) gets booked for not being far enough away at a free-kick. It does make your mind boggle a bit that that situation can occur.”

“We are very respectful of other clubs and managers … except when we are tapping up their players and coordinating media campaigns against them.”
