Aidan Nesbitt fanTeenager Aidan Nesbitt has been named as a substitute for tonight’s League Cup tie against Raith Rovers with Kieran Tierney starting at left back.

Both players have been on the books of Celtic for over a decade with Nesbitt holding a season ticket holder for almost as long.

Nesbitt has been in sparkling form in the Development League and was with the first team squad in Amsterdam last week for the Europa League tie with Ajax.

Ronny Deila has made six changes to the starting XI that beat Dundee 6-0 with Tyler Blackett, Stefan Johansen, Gary Mackay-Steven and Nadir Ciftci joining Tierney on the team-sheet.

After recovering from illness Nesbitt completed last season with a hat-trick in the final of the SFA Youth Cup as Celtic crushed Sevco 5-2 at Hampden.

Speaking after that match he said: “Scoring a hat-trick in a cup final against Rangers is an incredible feeling. I’ve been a Celtic fan all my days and it means everything to be involved in a cup final win at Hampden.

I renewed my season ticket in the afternoon, I’m in section 144 with my family, so scoring three times in a cup final win is very special, I know what it means to the fans and everyone at the club.

We set our standard in the semi-final by beating Hibs 6-0 and picked up on that in the final.

The whole team played well, Hampden suited our style. Winning this trophy means a lot to everyone in the dressing room, winning in style makes it more special.”

CELTIC: Gordon; Janko, Ambrose, Blackett, Tierney; Brown, Johansen; McGregor, Commons, Mackay-Steven; Ciftci

SUBS: Bailly, Lustig, Forrest, Stokes, Rogic, Nesbitt, Izaguirre

Best of luck to the young guy, love to see a Celtic fan getting to play at the club.

I’m looking forward to seeing him play live, hopefully he plays well enough to ensure more 1st team appearances.

Still can’t get my head around why Liam Henderson and Darnell Fisher were loaned out for a season, both have filled out well this last year. So with Aiden and Keiran we can expect the same, do well get 1st team experience then bye bye for a nearly a year? Baffling.
