SFAFurious John Hughes is set to take the SFA to task after being charged over his comments about Andrew Dallas.

The Caley Thistle boss is due at Hampden on October 1 for questioning the competence of Dallas. During Caley Thistle’s recent match with Dundee Hughes claimed that the referee’s lack of experience spread a nervousness across both teams.

Sixteen days after making his comments Hughes was charged by the SFA with the former Celtic defender standing his ground over his comments about the 26-year-old referee.

I stick by my comments because my comments weren’t personal and we will be fighting the charge,” the Caley Thistle boss stated.

“I don’t usually do that because I have no faith in the system or trust in the system and I think that is fair to say. Sometimes when you feel you’ve been hard done by, you go and fight.

“I was quite intrigued, I actually phoned up the compliance officer when I got it [the charge] through and had a long chat with him. It brought a smile to my face because he was at pains to tell me that he was the man and no one presses his buttons.”

Tomorrow Dallas will referee the Queen of the South v Morton match.

Hughes will be joined at Hampden next month by Robbie Neilson of Hearts who explained that he prepared his side to play with ten men against Hamilton after learning that Willie Collum would be in charge.

Sunday’s Celtic v Dundee match will be refereed by Steven McLean who was in the middle for Celtic’s Scottish Cup semi-final defeat to Inverness Caley Thistle in April.

Very arguably a penalty that was never a penalty and an offside goal caused Celtic to lose 2-1 at Aberdeen. I have watched at least 10 matches involving Craig Thomson and could literally and mathematically find at least 50 examples where he has not given fouls, let alone penalties, for very similar challenges to that made by Boyata. The second goals was blatantly offside when the ball was struck. What was it Paul McBride, before his tragic death, called the SFA a ‘farcical’ and ‘corrupt’ organisation?
