SFAJohn Hughes and Robbie Neilson face disciplinary action from the SFA for criticising referees.

More than two weeks after questioning Andrew Dallas and Willie Collum both managers find themselves in the dock.

Hughes claimed that Dallas’ lack of experience effected players during his side’s match with Dundee while Neilson claimed that his side had prepared to play with ten men against Hamilton because Collum was in charge. Hearts defender Callum Paterson was sent off but had his red card down graded to yellow after appealing the decision.

An SFA statement about Hughes read: “In that following on from the Scottish Professional Football League Premiership match between Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC and Dundee FC upon 29th August 2015, in a television interview you criticised the performance of the Match Referee in such a way as to indicate incompetence on his part.”

The charge against Neilson claims: “In that following on from the Scottish Professional Football League Premiership match between Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC and Dundee FC upon 29th August 2015, in interviews with the written press you criticised the performance of the Match Referee in such a way as to indicate incompetence on his part.”

Hughes and Neilson have until September 22 to reply to the charges with hearings called for Thursday October 1.

On Saturday Collum will referee the Kilmarnock v St Johnstone match with Dallas in charge of Queen of the South v Morton.

Steven McLean will referee Sunday’s match between Celtic and Dundee, his first Celtic appointment since last season’s Scottish Cup semi-final against Inverness Caley Thistle.

No doubt LG will be up for stating the obvious on Saturday. A very easy decision, but an incompetent or biased official couldn’t get right, and not for the first time.

Why Steven McLean is still a referee I do not know and no matter what the SFA do to punish Neilson and Hughes, they should ignore it. Challenge it the way Craig Levien did. The SFA does not have a clue what they are doing….
Is there any further thought that if Green and Whyte are tried for fraud…. Stuart Regan and his EBT running colleague could be seen as an accessory to commit fraud?

If Fergus was still in charge,he would have refused the biased McLean as ref.And to Hell with the consequences !
Let them strike again, would have been Fergus’s view.
Giving him pelters at the game will mean nothing.
He was biased against Celtic in a massive game.
As an outsider,Danny Wilson,BBC pundit, hinted at the time,
“There must be more to it,as the ref saw that clearly ”
Yet,our board are happy to welcome him to Celtic Park, even though he cheated us out of a possible Treble.
Fergus was a man of Integrity, and would have fought the corrupt SFA over their biased official.
Shame on Our Celtic Board !!

We must challenge the appointment of McLean he blatantly cheated in the semi-final.
