DeilaRonny Deila has promised to turn Celtic’s season around after the twin blows of losing to Malmo and Aberdeen.

Since Saturday’s defeat at Pittordrie supporters have taken to social media to voice their concerns about the state of the club as well as disappointing results.

Twelve months ago Deila was given the benefit of the doubt from most supporters after the Champions League ko from Maribor.

Securing two trophies and a thrilling Europa League clash with Inter Milan provided ground for hope but a disappointing transfer window and the nature of the Champions League exit to Malmo has raised concerns.

The loss of Jason Denayer and Virgil van Dijk has created a massive gap in the centre of the Celtic defence with the summer signings struggling to make an impact on the team.

Deila will face a media conference in Amsterdam tomorrow but spoke out to Celtic TV about the disappointments of the new season

We know what we are doing and know exactly what is wrong,” the Celtic boss said. “We have conceded too many goals recently, that’s not just the defence it’s the whole team. We have to play together and defend together, we have to sort out the set plays so that we get better.

It’s strange when you play one year hardly losing any goals then suddenly you have a bad period and you have to get out of it. We know what we are doing, we can do better we have to take one step back, look at what we are doing and do better.

I know that it is very frustrating, a lot of people are very angry or sad with what has happened, that’s how I feel as well, we have to move on, we really need the support of Celtic, that makes the players much better.

We need to stay together, it’s so important. Celtic have had bad periods before, we’ll come again and need to come again as quickly as possible.”

After Thursday’s Europa League tie with Ajax Deila faces three home matches within seven days against Dundee, Raith Rovers and Hearts.

I think a lot of people are forgetting just how many times Craig Gordon saved us from losing goals last year. It was clear to me that the defence needed a major overhaul, give them time and I think we can show we have improved the overall team. Midfield balance isn’t right just now, need to be more dynamic and creative.

In Amsterdam, we need to carry a major threat with every attack. Show we have learned from previous mistakes and take the fight to Ajax

Johanson has been piss poor since the season kicked off.

But it’s early days. If we are in this position come April i’ll begin worrying but i am quite confident that we will have wrapped the league title up by then.

Gordon also cost us dumb goals!!! Like 2 against inter which stop us advancing last year and he is scared to go for ball, we need better although he has done OK we need better

Football and especially Celtic of late has it’s ups and downs. It’s how you handle the downs that’ll make your team stronger. Our two centre half’s from last season wanted out and have gone. Let’s get behind the team and judge them at the end of the season.

The problem is with the players, they just decide to stop playing. I mean Ronnie had them paying great exciting g football which lead to goals and a lot of chances. Lokk at the Malmo game 2 up going on 5 within the first 10 min, but as we seen even before Ronnie is that we stop going forward and kill off the game after 2 goals.

The players and the board have to take a lot of the blame for letting the manager down. But yes Ronnie needs to learn how to adapt and change things/formation when things are not going well and needs to pick better subs then ambrose and such. We need rid have the players that give 50% the commons mulgrew ect.

We need a fresh squad Griffiths Bitton Brown Janko Johansson (needs to wake up) are ppl that give there all but have a bad game now and then but are the ones to build around

    • john says:

get rid of Commons? one of the few players that knows how to pass and score goals and guess what? Ronnie doesnt play him! Should be the on the team sheet along with Griffiths first.
Ronnie needs to fix it soon though we will win the league and next year the same will happen, europa league.

I agree wi John, commo would b ma first player on ma team sheet every game,in my opinion he’s the only proven game changer in our team and he keeps gettin overlooked, pure ridiculous. He mite no have an extra yard of pace like other midfielders but he is 2 yards ahead up top. Also he has a class dig n isn’t scared 2 take a shot from distance when we playin pish and everyone has ran out of ideas. His distribution and vision is impeccable stop being a fanny ronny n start him aw the time n c wot happens! Hail hail

Don’t want to come across as a prophet of doom, but I will. Cant see us getting a result in Amsterdam. The defence looked so poor on Saturday. Not impressed with Boyata, Mulgrew is way out of form, and Blackett did not even look like a footballer.

Don’t even get me started on Johansson. This guy is Deila’s son. I am sure of it. He will get a game anywhere in the team I am pretty sure of it. We will again make the same mistakes we made last year in Europe. Not learning from our mistakes and I am sure we will show nothing as a team going forward. We have no creativity.

As I stated on here on Saturday after the Dons defeat, there are players in the side who do not merit a start, MacKay Steven, Johansson & Mulgrew. Do I see any of them being dropped on Thursday night….no.

I hope I am wrong and we pull off a result, but I really cant see it. Just like I cant see any progress over the past year.

Losing VvD and Denayer has been a massive loss to the defence. Especially Denayer who was a rock. Its that simple. We have lost 2 big defenders and we havent replaced them. That along with a lack of confidence, an inability to finish sides off and we are where we are.

The myth about us being “super” fit is just that. We need to get the whole team overhauled and playing better football. Deila has had plenty of time to imprint his own plans. Needs to step up now.

  • drawkcab says:

Ronny gets the vote of the supreme leader.

  • Jimmy Bee says:

He is not upto the job simple.
He has to go and people brought in that know how to defend properly. He played against 10 men on Saturday and brought on effe ambrose ffs that gave aberdeen all the encouragement they needed.
Not good enough I’m afraid and the team has gone back the way. No imagination too slow in the middle of the park and why we need Brown Rogic and Bitton in the same team is beyond me.
Time to get him out before it’s too late .

  • Johnbhoy says:

plan A Zone marking plan B Zone marking wake up Celtic you are playing in Scotland you should be attacking as plan A use a plan B when you are away in europe but not the zone marking i think its time to give the goalkeeper a rest as he fails in the 6 yrd box not controlling his area Brown is lost to Celtic also because of this Zone marking runs around like a chicken with its head cut off as for leaving commons out against Aberdeen he would have shown them how to shoot and pass a ball and griff would thrive off of him

  • james imrie says:

To many celtic players off form at the moment . The new ones need to be given time lets see what they can do in a couple o months . Aberdeen a better side at the moment celtic are playing badly . Get behind the celtic . Lets not judge yet

  • drawkcab says:

Send scott Brown back to hibs.

  • Chico67 says:

We need to pick 11players and stick by them stop talking about who should go and all players made accountable we all know the ones who dont give 100% its time for all to be counted board staff and supporters msm love to see and hear us at each others throat STOP IT HH

  • Jordan says:

why does Ronny keep on playing EFE ambrose he’s f****** sh** he should never get a game should not be on the reserves the clown

  • johnreilly says:

we know what we are doing wrong, we need to defend better,we have conceded to many goals ,well at least he knows now, we have known that for ages ,wonder if he is going to actually change it still ,i am reassured, still nervous about thursday,at least we have boyata, ambrose,

  • eric says:

    GOD ONLY know’s

  • Angwyn Campbell says:

  • drawkcab says:

  • Hoopy says:

Too many excuses every week. They don’t know how to fix it. The arrogance or the staff just keep saying ‘sure we will at least win the leAgue’ . Lads, wise up before the league is gone.
