Aberdeen crisis deepens

Image for Aberdeen crisis deepens

spflAberdeen were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Motherwell making it five games without a win for Derek McInnes side.

Adam Rooney’s 43rd minute opener was cancelled out by a second half strike from substitute Scott McDonald with the Fir Park side pushing strongly for a winner as the match ended.

Before the match McInnes highlighted the fact that a win over Motherwell would send the Dons to the top of the Premiership but a Celtic win over Dundee United to morrow will put them four points clear ahead of Saturday’s Celtic v Aberdeen clash.

After starting the season with eight straight wins in the Premiership to go five points clear of Celtic Aberdeen have lost to Hibs in the League Cup followed by league defeats from Inverness Caley Thistle, St Johnstone and Ross County.

Speaking after the League Cup defeat by Hibs McInnes said: “I know he said they’ll win five in a row. I think that any manager in our league would be confident in saying something like that given the level of finances Celtic has when the rest of the clubs are working on playing budgets of between £1m and £2m and they’re working with £20m.

I have no problems with that at all. Every manager has to concentrate on their own team and we’re no different.”

Elsewhere in the Premiership Hearts won 2-0 at home to Ross County to move to just two points behind Aberdeen in third place.

Partick Thistle’s draw at home with Hamilton Accies lifted them five points ahead of Dundee United and keeps them two points behind third bottom Motherwell.

  • Angus says:

Great deflection piece. Doesn’t matter that your own team is infighting. Typical Celtic fans, sweep their problems under the carpet and highlight everyone else’s.

    • billy says:

Yes Angus just like the Scottish press sevco might not meet wages this month but all they can talk about is the hoops bad nite on Thursday go figer

    • Timmy says:

Aye…Terrible problems Celtic have allrite……Runaway champions four in a row, clear on points at the top of the league again this season, all this while still appearing in the League cup and Scottish cup, and with two tricky away games done and dusted, could still win their group in the Europa League, never mind qualify.

  • wulz says:

Well at least that’s some good news. Hopefully back to winning ways tomorrow after that embarrassment, during the week
    HH

  • Jimmy Bee says:

Good job everybody takes points off one another or we would be in some state. That embarrassment during the week has happened too many times under Ronnies watch. He has to go and let someone else in who would take these players to task.
They continue to under perform and have no courage.
We need leaders we have none on or off the park.

    • John Keenan says:

Jimmy Bee, that’s my feeling as well. The ability is there but there’s no gumption. When the going gets tough, no-one steps up to the mark. As much as I like Brown, he’s found his level and that’s in the SPL. There’s also no other leaders in the team to replace him. There is no excuse for the horrendous performance levels in Europe, both this season and last.

  • PJ 44 says:

Hi Angus, are you part of a new club playing out of Ibrokes,if so when they are gone for good you will see a different SPL where all thoughts of 10in a row will disappear and league will go from strength to strength.Celtic may afford to buy more than other SPLClubs at present but that will change. The product will have to be competitive to survive and also to attract both Sponsors and Fans alike. We live in hope.

    • Angus says:

Nooe, just because someone doesn’t agree with a Celtic fan doesn’t mean they are a Rangers supporter.
Don’t worry, you are universally reviled in Scotland!
Yes, the SPFL is doing grand just now. Did you see that report on Scottish football and its coefficient? Doing swimmingly!

      • mulsiebhoy says:

If you actually read the comment that you’re replying to, you’ll notice PJ44 , at no time, states that the SPFL is ‘doing grand’ or ‘swimmingly’. He does opine however, that it could prosper, upon the death of the tribute act from Edmiston Drive. I suspect from your monicker that you’re a sheepie, not a Sevconian…however, they’re just two cheeks of the same arse!
        Respect your Champions!

        • Angus says:

Aye you are doing really well with Rangers not competing with you. Who was it just thrashed you? Molde? Who were the other ones? Can’t even remember their name. Celtic have got their wish with their dumbing down of Scottish football and now they have to lie on the shitty bed they’ve made. As least we’re used to mediocrity. I guess it will take you a bit longer to realise how shite you are. And you lot would have nothing to talk about if Rangers weren’t around so be careful what you wish for.

  • Alan In Thailand says:

I’ve backed Ronny all the way and really hope he turn things around, although i’m beginning to have doubts.

Serious question to all those saying ”bring someone else in” though… Who would/could we REALISTICALLY bring in?
I see people shouting for Larsson but has Henke really got the experience required?

There’s not many good managers around in my opinion, and those who are available tend to be sitting at home because they have been sacked by their previous clubs. Hardly a guarantee of success…

  • John says:

Exactly Alan. The only guys mentioned in connection with the job are guys who can’t get a job any where else or guys we have never heard of and would be a big risk.

The best I have heard is Paul Lambert. I like Lambert but he took a team who have money that would put them in the top half of the EPL and had then struggling for survival. Larsson does not have enough experience. Every single person mentioned is an emotional decision.

Deila has been in the job 16 months. Do we really want to become a basket case club that sacks a manager every 2 or 3 seasons?

I am beginning to have my doubts as well. However, Neil Lennon had equally appalling results in Europe, but because of the emotional attachment we have to him he survived. Does no one remember the abject performances home and away against Sion, Utrecht and Braga? And there were others.

Deila does not have a lot of time left but he needs to make changes to the team. His substitutions are a mystery, not just Commons the other night either. He needs to drop Johansen, Izzaguire, Ambrose and Lustig and play some of the younger guys.

When are the players going to step up and accept some responsibility. Deila is as shocked as the rest of us that professional players cannot pass the ball to each other or see what is happening on the field. But time is running out, I admit.

  • TonyB says:

Make no mistake, if this were Celtic losing 11points in the last 4 games it would be seen as a crisis in all the papers and among the sheep.

However, because it involves Pep Mc Innes it’s all pretend there’s no problem here and it’ll all be ok in the end.

Err…… no it won’t. Pep is an over hyped never was and his team is a bunch of bottlers.

Even with a poor team and manager, Celtic will win the league in a canter as usual.

There’s a lot of deflection denial and sweeping going on but it’s from the likes of Angus, who apparently thinks there’s still a club called Rangers in existence despite liquidation in 2012.

    Go figure indeed!

  • Andy says:

Looking forward to the Hoops pulling 4 pts clear a win next week and it’ll be 7pts clear plus 2 wins at home and we are in the knock out stages of Europe.
Happy Hoopy days and long may we be “universally reviled in Scotland”.

  • drawkcab says:

Aberdeen Angus you are talking bull.

  • Billy says:

Read that kris commons has apologised for his outburst on thursday evening surely it should be delia apologising…Hail Hail 4 0 celtic today

  • Billy says:

Yo Angus og shut yer hole

  • Angus says:

Haha, looking at some of the posts under show how obsessed you are. Can’t even take a pounding from a Don without thinking about them. Must be love! Both Newcos, I guess it’s the commonality!

    • Joe McHugh says:

NEWSFLASH: Rangers failed with a feeble attempt at a CVA forcing the cherished institution into LIQUIDATION. Dead, kaput, finito, brown bread.

Angus and others may have switched their support to the Dons and others but it’s not difficult to see what his footballing motivation is.

That hatred and obsession with Celtic killed Craig Whyte’s club, it is killing Charles Green’s tribute act and will no doubt sink whatever comes next to soak up the vacuum when Sevco join Rangers in death row.

We welcome the chase, one star means more.

    • Andybhoy says:

Obsessed? Says the ”Aberdeen fan” who feels the burning urge to continually revisit a Celtic fan site, hmmm! Glass houses and all that!

Listen Gus, I admit we could be described quite adequately as ”a bit shite” at the moment, but what does that say about your lot when you still have to lift your eyes upwards to see where we sit in the league table.

And let’s be honest here Gus the only thing that ever takes a pounding from a Don is the local livestock. Now get baaaack to one of your own sites.

  • Andy says:

“Angus “is McIness or whatever his name is under pressure or are you’s happy to get pumped out of every competition

  • Andy says:

Aberdeen 2nd biggest budget but won only one comp under present boss. Inverness have won more prestigious comp with a fraction of funds.

  • GinnY says:

Angus is apparently a Don who believes Rangers still exists and that we are “universally reviled”.

For an apparent Aberdeen fan his attitudes are decidely hunnish.

If we are reviled it is not universal and only by scoattush foodbaw bigots like the so called sheepy Angus.
And we all know the reasons why they don’t like us, but they haven’t the guts to admit it.

If it sounds like a sev and talks like a sev then it is probably a sev.

BTW. I hope you enjoyed the result today.

    Onwards and upwards.
