charles-greenCharles Green will be forced to wait a month to discover if Sevco will pay his legal costs.

The founding father of the club left Ibrox in April 2013 with a contract covering his legal costs for the next seven years. The agreement was listed in the 2012 IPO and signed off by chairman Malcolm Murray.

Last month Mr Green, Gary Withey, David Grier, David Whitehouse, Paul Clark and Imran Ahmad were charged with serious fraud in connection with the asset transfer from Rangers (IL) to Sevco (Scotland/5088) in 2012.

That case will open on Friday at the High Court in Edinburgh with a guilty verdict likely to put the validity of the club from Ibrox in jeopardy with liquidators BDO having a claim to the assets leaving the club without a ground and having to pay rental for Ibrox.

Providing Mr Green with the best legal support available would seem to be in the interest of the club but the businessman from Yorkshire has had his claim for costs rejected by Dave King.

Mr Green’s claim for legal costs was heard today by Lord Tyre at the Court of Session with November 12 and 13 set aside to hear the case.

After receiving the claim Mr King issued a club statement saying: “Charles Green approached the club prior to his arrest and demanded that we pay his legal costs in respect of his co-operation with Police Scotland into his time as an officer of the club.

“I advised him that we would not do so. He was subsequently arrested and has now approached the court to compel the club to pay the legal costs of his defence to the criminal charges. This application will be strongly resisted.”

Well, that is very convenient for Sevco, isn’t it? That’s another month’s operations guaranteed …

    My understanding is…
    It’s A “victory” for Chuckles…inasmuch as…
The Judge has agreed there’s a case to answer…he could have found for Sevco this morning.
    Keep the faith.

Didn’t the zombies cheer Craig Whyte as he marched along the street, and right in the front door.
Didn’t the zombies protest march with Chuckles Green to the Hampden, because of their terrible treatment.

Everyone knows that Green will lose this in court. The Scottish judicial system will make sure further damaging exposure does not stick to Sevco.
They exist from the corruption of the old Rangers because of more corruption within their own ranks. They still owe millions just like the original Rangers, and there is so much corruption in the country which will ensure their protection.

No real interest in the court room shenanigans between various corrupt ex officials. What does interest me however is Phil McG’s statementthat Murray Park is to be punted as they can’t afford it. Obviously facilities are in short supply in Scotland, so it struck me that the SFA might take up the lease and re-hire back to Sevco which might tide them over. Clearly the SFA are not rolling in cash either but doubt they will simply stand back and let it close or be bull dozed over.

    • Joe McHugh says:

If there is a proper administration the state-of-the-art Murray Park training complex will be mothballed and the club Academy structure decimated. With 32,000 season tickets sold, many at concession rates and no other income of note some drastic cuts would be required to limp through the season with season ticket holders likely to have to pay in game by game.

That just might allow them to reach the end of the season after a January fire sale. The people might get a bit restless but the alternative is a proper liquidation with the assets under dispute from the 2012 cut price asset transfer for £5.5m.

Years of this still to run.
