Deila: I’m not thinking about my future

DeilaRonny Deila has no concerns over his future despite Celtic’s 2-1 home defeat from Molde.

Remarkably Celtic can still qualify from their Europa League group but after four matches without a win, conceding nine goals, that appears highly unlikely.

It was an insipid performance from the hoops tonight as they finished the match with ten men following a red card for Nir Bitton, substitute Tyler Blackett was substituted with only the performance of Kieran Tierney providing any consolation.

Despite an almost unblemished domestic record Deila’s European record has attracted heavy criticism from supporters but the Norwegian sees no reason to consider his future.

I don’t think about my position, that’s something for you to write about,” the Celtic boss said. “I have to get ready for next season and the last two matches (in the Europa League).

We have done very well domestically, in Europe we haven’t reached the level we want to be at.

I will be judged on a lot of things. It’s the results in Europe, if we lost the league that’s not so good. It’s about developing a team that can get into the Champions League, get a green light through through the whole system from the youths so we can get up players like KT (Kieran Tierney). He played with heart, it was an unbelievable performance on a dark day.

We score a lot of goals but we concede too many easy goals. You can see the results in the media but I have to see behind it, every game we play in Europe we concede too many easy goals, I can’t make any excuse, that’s something I have to handle and we have to develop.”

Celtic face Ajax at home on November 26 with neither club having recorded a win in the Europa League, tonight Ajax drew 0-0 at home to Fenerbahce.

Get this Ronny “The Plonker” Deila out now..so glad I did not buy my Europa League tickets now.
Never thought I would ever feel the way I did before a Celtic game tonight when part of me, a very small part of me wanted my team to lose, simply to get this idiot out.
Some fans will hate me for saying this but these are the same fans who would have thought a draw tonight who would have been a great result, who participate in a Ronny Roar and will now blame the board for not backing the manager with cash.
I blame the board for one thing and one thing only….giving this idiot the job in the first place….
    Hail Hail

I’m with you Tony, the buzz normally associated with watching the Bhoys was replaced with a tense, nervous feeling akin to being in a court room waiting to be sentenced…

    • Chico67 says:

Get a grip only problem with mngr too loyal to certain players lost centre backs takes time to gel support celtic when they lose not only when they WIN HH same players make same mistakes week afrer week

      • kingsnake says:

A message needs to be sent. A line drawn in the sand. Someone’s head needs to roll. If it isn’t Ronnie’s head, then he best be the executioner and lop off someone else’s. Pick someone.

  • Scotty says:

I’m sorry Ronny Deila but you’ve never been the man for me…especially when you started at the helm & I heard you’d stripped at your previous club for some reason or other…please join the likes of Tony Mowbray & Lou Macari…this is Glasgow Celtic not some pub team. Thank you

  • Kombuchis says:

F**k sake Ronnie, every Celtic fan hates the Scottish “media”, we’ve put up with decades of their shit.

But the whole disaster of last seasons Champions League qualifiers and every European game this season is down to

    A) A piss poor squad, and

    B) A coaching team who can’t organise a team, sort out a defensive plan or achieve a result against anyone above the bog standard level of the SPL.

When the European teams that have beaten you in the last 18 months include Legia Warsaw, Maribor, Salzburg, Malmo and Molde, selling clubs one and all, then something is drastically wrong.

  • Gary says:

    Ronnie has to go !
I blame the whole coaching team for shambolic organisation of a team .

  • djshakti says:

Sorry to say it but i actually felt the same.. a small part of me wanted to lose to get rid of RD… we had no tactics, no direction, no cohestion – Chris Sutton is spot on when he said he couldnt even work out what system we were playing in the second half… theres no drive from RD… hes way too passive and way too clueless about tactics to defeat teams.. Sorry wee man but its time to go.. let someone else do the job…. Celtic is just too big a job for you…

  • kingsnake says:

    I blame the following:

    1) S***t referring, robbed us of two legit goals, that despite 2) and 3) we would have won.

    2) Continuing inability to defend corners, free kicks or crosses.

    3) Johansen. Yet another freaking sideways pass, intercepted, leading to a Molde breakaway, that forced Bitton to make his ill-advised tackle. That’s not on Bitton, that’s all Johansen.

    • ScottyLesta says:

Mate allow the refereeing, we’ve got to face facts – SPL is just practice for Europe, it’s hard to get interested in playing Dundee Utd & Ross County anymore & when it is time to get excited, we’re struggling to deal with Moulde & Maribor!

  • Monti says:

    Kingsnake,
The goals were correctly chopped off, we were beaten by a better team!

Deila is a clown, time to go!

    • Jimmy says:

Another disgraceful European night. The guy has got to go Asap. We are going backwards rapidly. Our defense, simple there is no defense. Shambles.

  • paul says:

What is the point of winning the SPL with a team thats is not equipped for europe , most half decent managers could win the SPL with the team that RD has , but why no passion in europe where was the fight , Chris commons taken off again , WHY ??, and to cap it all off a young 17 year old was the one who carried the fight in the second half, time to go RD

  • BILLY says:

Celtic were a shambles tonight worst display in Europe at celtic park that I’ve witnessed things have to change Deila is not the man to sort this out

  • Jamesq says:

Time to go Ronny, you are out of your depth and it’s the same old excuses, tactics at times are woeful especially in Europe.

Your inability to get a top defensive coach in hasn’t helped, you are a nice guy and so is John Kennedy but for a defender he is a woeful coach. Time for you both to go and send that idiot Blackwell back to Man United NOW.not the end of the season. He’s worse than Ambrose and that’s a tall order.

We have been made a laughing stock due to your incompetence Ronny, no more excuses no more woeful tactics. If I hear you saying once more that our tempo wasn’t good I will crack up.You are the guy who picks the team you are the problem. Just go.

  • Danny says:

Can’t take any more of these clueless European performances sorry Ronny you have to go many have left for less

  • mike says:

Dearie Dearie me , Haride the Malmo manager was right Malmo and Molde had better teams than Celtic , try and get your head around that. How on earth is that team going to develop into a champions league qualifying team next year. Something has to change.

  • mmatim88 says:

I have asked the question dozens of times and still haven’t received an answer can any backer of Ronnie give one good reason other than blind hope for supporting him. No experience, no pedigree playing or management, just constant bluster and bluff. From day 1 of the “revolution” supporters like myself have been chastised and belittled by “real” Celtic fans because we saw through his bullshit. Ive never been happy about not backing the man and its not personal but we all invest too much time and money not to be honest with ourselves about what is happening to our beloved club. He never learns from any of his mistakes and just keeps telling us everything is wonderful.

  • Geordie says:

I hav just watched the game here in Adelaide. I have to say it is worse than I thought it would be!
Once again the board have to take the ultimate responsibility here ! They take hard working Celtic supporters money and provide this as entertainment !!!!!!

Ronny has not improved the teams playing style, there is no desire, ambition or quality of play which would make me part with my money. As a CELTIC supporter I would like to know( although I am sure what the answer is ) where all the money is going from the sales of Wanyama, Van Dyke and others!

Once again the board are only doing just enough to appease the support and line their pockets!!!!
In doing so they have made this club and it’s fantastic supporters a laughing stock of Britain and Europe!
My only consideration here is the supporters( which are the club) and their faith in a great and historic club which continues to provide sub-standard football where in reality it could and should do so much more!

Finally let me say this if the board wants continue with this insipid and lethargic approach to their recruitment of managers, coaches and playing staff will ensure further embarrassment for the long suffering Celtic support !!!!

    Hail, Hail !

  • BILLY says:

Last nights performance for me is not acceptable not from glasgow celtic the fans deserve a whole lot more it looked as if certain players didn’t have a clue what they were meant to be doing and certain players for me are no were near good enough so shouldn’t be anywhere near celtic park for that i blame the management team at the end off the day a time has to come when the celtic hierarchy have to put there hands up and say this isn’t working and its not i have nothing against RD but i when it comes to my football team my standards are high and i want my team to do well and get results especially in Europe it hasn’t happened it wasn’t the shock off losing the game last night it was the shock off how shambolic we were and for that i blame the management team again rant over…HAIL HAIL 🙁
