NIMMO SMITH ENQUIRY

In the two weeks since Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs were declared the victors in the Big Tax Case there has been a constant message for football supporters to move on.

Unlikely.

All sorts of nonsense has been dredged up to excuse a decade of cheating when every supporter in the land was paying money to watch competitions in which one club had an unfair advantage. Their players, managers, coach and officials were being paid NETTO while every other participant was doing their bit for the nation through income tax and national insurance.

Since Her Majesty was declared victorious there hasn’t been a word come out from the SPFL or SFA.

BDO have until December 2 to appeal against the judgement from the Court of Session in Edinburgh, if there is no appeal the spotlight switches straight to Hampden for the reaction of the two governing bodies.

For the apologists that want everyone to forgive and forget there are five simple steps for the governing bodies to take to allow everyone to move on.

  1. Publish the Five Way Agreement of 2012 put together by the SFA, SPL, SFL, Duff & Phelps plus Charles Green.

  1. Explain why Rangers (IL) were given a licence to play in European Football when a bill for £6m for the Wee Tax Case was unpaid on 30 June 2011.

  1. Explain why the terms reference for the Nimmo Smith enquiry were switched from 1 July 1998 to 23 November 2012

  1. As things stand EBT payments were taxable and clearly gave Rangers (IL) an unfair sporting advantage. Set up a new enquiry from 1 July 1998 on the basis that the undeclared payments were taxable.

  1. Introduce strict licensing conditions, Sevco had a going concern against their audited accounts warning of a £2.5m shortfall, every other club in the Championship is being penalised against  an unsustainable club.

There are a lot of other areas for Scottish football to improve upon, transparency and accountability seems to be optional.

While the SFA and SPFL take the blame they are effectively the clubs, change must come from the clubs who are answerable to their shareholders and season ticket holders.

Once the five steps detailed above are undertaken, and anyone found guilty of not applying the rules removed from office, Scottish football will have a chance to move on, playing on a level field where sporting advantage is gained from having better players and coaches through increased income.

Until then they’d be as well appointing Richard Gough as joint chief executive of the SFA and SPFL because until answers and explanations are given no one will moving on.

The fans will fund a judicial review if necessary. The SFA and SPFL cannot be anywhere near any further enquiry because as Larsson7 says they are part of the problem. We will not go away.

every Scottish football club with a common decency should boycott the games against rankers even if it is at home and force the hand of these corrupt men who run Scottish football at the end off the day even now they can’t afford to even play in the lower leagues let alone the top league where the knukledraggers say they belong… ah the simple are easily fooled

and they go on about Marseille and bribes – the marseille manager claimed it was only a loan after all. Financial doping is bribes , bungs , hidden wages , tax dodges and should all be punished the same. even although the ’11 men on the park won it’ line is always trotted out. marseille were stripped of their tainted title but not the European Cup as no proof was found of cheating despite what newco tell you.

And lock up all the criminals

The governing bodies need to be ripped to bits, and cleaned out of corrupt brotherhood bigots, who care about their team more than our game.
