Deila’s delight as Celtic complete the perfect ten

Ronny Deila was delighted by Celtic’s 3-0 win away to St Johnstone as the hoops made it 10 out of 10 coming back from European commitments.

Three days after the 1-1 draw in Fenerbache Nadir Ciftci struck twice either side of a headed goal from Dedryck Boyata to beat St Johnstone 3-0 as the hoops moved four points clear of Aberdeen with a game in hand.

All three of Celtic’s goals came from around the six yard box as they showed a ruthless treak to see off the Perth side who went into the match knowing that a win would have lifted them into third place ahead of Hearts.

“Ten times we’re coming back (from European matches) and 10 victories so you can’t do better than that,” the Celtic boss said. “I’m very, very happy.

“Nadir played very well, it was good for him. There are a lot of these young boys who need confidence and have some good experiences, and today Nadir got two and it was very, very good for him.”

Ciftci opened the scoring in the 35th minute when he swept the ball home at the back post from a Callum McGregor corner.

Four minutes into the second half Boyata powerfully head home from another McGregor corner with Ciftci completing the scoring in the 66th minute when he sent a header past Alan Mannus from a Mikael Lustig cross.

St Johnstone created as many chances as Celtic but couldn’t find the net with Brian Easton coming closest to scoring when he hit the post with a 25 yard drive a minute after Boyata had put Celtic 2-0 up.
