Leigh Griffiths wil sit out Celtic’s clash against Hearts at Tynecastle.
The former Hibs striker has missed the last three matches through injury with Nadir Ciftci given the job of leading the line against Robbie Neilson’s side.
Griffiths scored his first ever Celtic goal at Tynecastle 22 months ago then scored one and created the other when the hoops put Hearts out of the League Cup.
Looking forward to the match Ronny Deila said: “We need to play quick, that’s important, and we’ll attack as we normally do, and hopefully put them under pressure and open them up with good play,” he said, “but it starts by winning the fight which we’ve done twice under my time at Tynecastle.
“We think it will be quite similar to the game we had in the League Cup earlier this season, and hopefully we can play better than we did that night because I don’t think we played so well, but we got a good result and I was happy with that.
“Up to last weekend, we hadn’t lost at home in the league since February. It’s disappointing that we lost because I’m not used to losing.
“It’s a big game on Sunday, one that we’re really looking forward to. It will be a good atmosphere and we’re meeting a really good team as well, so we will do everything we can to bounce back in that game.”
CELTIC: Gordon; Lustig, Boyata, Simunovic, Tierney; Bitton, Johansen; McGregor, Rogic, Armstrong; Ciftci
SUBS: Bailly, Izaguirre, Ambrose, Allan, Mackay-Steven, Cole, Forrest.
Hearts wanted a result more than Celtic and Ciftci was a waste of time, are they playing him cos he cost ‘so’ much ????
Not as much as Celtic missed Griffiths …
