Ronny Deila has praised the spirit that his side showed in the 2-2 draw with Hearts at Tynecastle.

Despite the pain of seeing two points slip away thanks to a last gasp shot from Osman Sow that took a touch off Gary Mackay Steven on it’s way into the net Deila was pleased with the way his players bounced back from losing to Motherwell.

The 2-1 defeat from Mark McGhee’s side was followed by a wave of criticism with the attitude of the players coming in for criticism in the run up to the trip to Tynecastle.

It’s disappointing, but what I’m happy with today was the team spirit,” the Celtic boss said. “Against Motherwell, that was what disappointed me.

There were a lot of individuals playing for themselves instead of the team. Today, I saw my old team back again.

This was a hardworking team who is well organised and play forward and are quick with their passing.

This is how I want to see my team play and that’s the positive thing and something we have to try and produce again on Wednesday.”

There was a blow for Celtic before the match when Leigh Griffiths and Kris Commons were missing from the team-sheet, joining Scott Brown on the sidelines.

After swamping Hearts in the early stages Celtic had to wait until the 42nd minute to take the lead when Nir Bitton slotted home from a Callum McGregor pass.

Hearts equalised in stoppage time through Sam Nicholson but it looked like Celtic were on course for full points when Tom Rogic fired in from the edge of the penalty box.

The hoops looked on course for full points until stoppage time when Sow’s free kick took a touch off Mackay-Steven into the net.

How any real competent manager can be even the tiniest bit happy with this performance today is beyond me.
This was frankly a disgusting performance. The worst Celtic team of all time!
    They have nothing. Nothing!
Management is appaling. Leadership is badly lacking! Not one player on show there today is any better than second rate. Not one player fit to wear the hoops.
But when the manager comes out and says he is happy, your alarm goes off! If a manager gets satisfaction from this type of performance, we have some extremely serious problems.

i dont know how long we are expected to put up with the garbage on the park and the worse garbage in the dugout. we have around 44000 season tickets this season, but i suspect the numbers will be drastically reduced next season. that is unless the part time celtic fans prove they are indeed only there to see ra rangers.

but the simple fact is, that wrongy deila is tacticly naive. he cannot organise a defence, he barely even uses one these days. his substitutions are baffling at best. his team selections are brainless. ciftci has offered nothing since hes been in, yet he gets a start. give cole a chance since griffiths is injured (although i suspect he’ll offer nothing more). as you say, what has allen got to do to get in the team? he should have been on for johansen who did nothing after being booked. allen had a poor game last week when he did get on, but what can we expect from a guy who knows he could score five goals in a 5-4 win and still go back to the bench.
callum mcgregor as a holding midfielder makes as much sense as james forrest in goal. mikael lustig moves like a guy who’s just had hip surgery. what happened to janko who was looking like a good player. i still dont understand why mattews was sold for that matter.

personally i thought hearts were the better side. we started well, but they dominated the last half hour of the firast half and created the better chances. i ddint think we controlled the midfield at any stage after the first 15 minutes. our players look terrified on the ball. otherr than rogic, they look devoid of any creative initiative.

i spent most of the last 75 minutes just waiting for hearts to score.

simply put, if he is in charge of the dundee (2-2 draw) game, then the board have no interest in the fans opinions, and we are now simply there as cash cows for a club in recession. as for ten in a row, i wouldnt start counting to five yet. i heard celtic fans were on the radio gloating that aberdeen were two down yesterday. could celtic come from two down to anyone? i seriously doubt it. time celtic fans stopped gloating at what happens in govan or aberdeen, and start worrying about whats happening in celtic park.

anyone got the link to the petition?

  • Phaco says:

How many times do we have to watch the team give up a lead. F-cking incredible if he thinks he has any team back. Couching a complete disgrace, team a shambles and management clueless. Give up and start again. Please. Hh

Manager has to go when he makes comments like that . Back room team as well .How can PeterLawell sit and watch that and not see what the fans are seeing is beyond me , get Delia out before Wednesday and start afresh in January

  • Maurice McKenddrick says:

Loser – complete baw bag. Point out the injuries, say its not the team you want. Make a substitution that makes sense. Ciftci – lumbering and paceless, Johansen – hospital balls to anyone. Team looks unfit and ver, very unsure of themselves.

A bad manager is one thing – a deluded pretender is another.

    • kingsnake says:

Unfit, aye, especially with all the muscle injuries today. And *that* was Collins big selling point: Getting the side fit. WTF!?

  • John says:

God what I would give to have our old team back with Neil Lennon in charge. Barcelona seems a lifetime ago!

  • tonybhoy says:

Deila is happy with that performance. A draw is a positive result in Norway you clown but we are Celtic. We expect to win, be entertained and not short changed.

How many times are we going to start a game when the boss already has his two substitution s in mind? Armstrong aint been fit all season. When was the last time he lasted 90mins. Rogic wont finish a game too. So right from the off we are playing with two subs already made. Dont get me started on Johannson. Gets his usual silly booking, chases around like a loony, his passes are always short and he still has time for a laugh during the 90mins. How the hell he didnt come off and Allan on? Only Deila knows.

We played ok for 15mins at the start of the game but the rest was dross. Any Celtic fan would agree, that equaliser at the end was coming. We done nothing after taking the lead for a second time and the game became messy.

I have said this before, nothing motivates me anymore watching this Celtic team. My son has now started saying he aint bothered watching Celtic until Deila goes. Celtic need to be careful or we will lose a generation of fans with this Deila.

I thought Celtic played well today. It was an entertaining game. Forced into two early substitutions did not help. Missing key players also. Somehow, I don’t think Neil Lennon is the answer. I very much doubt if he has made much progress in hid season and a half struggling in the Championship. If a change is to be made at least make sure it is the right change, not a backward step.

    • seldomsober says:

I thought Celtic played well today, are you on drugs FFS this team are terrible and the manager a bloody clown he’s not got a Barrs Irn Bru.

RD hellava nice guy but useless time to go before all the Celtic support does.

    • Joe says:

A backwards step? How in the name of God can we take a backwards step from where we are! This team has no leadership, on or off the park! We are at the darkest point in our history as far as our product on the park goes. “I got my team back”!!!!!!!!! Really? I hope he meant his old Norwegian team, because it certainly isn’t Celtic. The best player in the world used to fear coming to Paradise! Messi loved it and feared it at the same time. Trust me John, we sucked today and there are no backward steps from where we are. Unless of course we keep this idiot on.

  • Owenroe says:

My view of the performance, was 2 points dropped. RD says he was satisfied with the performance, I disagree. OK two injuries during the game and before, restricted his options. Surely this was the time for Carlton Cole to start, after Cifti’s dismal performance last week, who is clearly not up to. RD is not a manager who is up to Celtic standard, and if i’m being honest neither is his backroom staff.

  • Happyhoopybhoy says:

If only we had 11 players with the desire and character of young Keiron Tierney. A bunch of bottle merchants who let themselves be bossed and bullied by third class players. Very disappointed in Lustig this season as his intelligence and skill seem to have evaporated completely.

  • John Fallon says:

Some comments on here are classic, 1 question HOW MANY GO TO SEE ALL OUR GAMES 2 Stop reading and listening to media experts who did`nt play football

  • john says:

Why do people always refer to the Barcelona game as if that was the norm for Celtic at that time. This game was a freak. Celtic were battered and managed to hold on. What was it 19% possession. Yet this is the performance that supporters point to as the way that Celtic play. Good God we were hammered 6-1 at the Camp Nou with a similar performance but less luck.

If we are being honest with ourselves, which we seldom ever are, Braga, Sion and Utrecht were more typical European performances under NL than Barcelona was. We are where we are and need to get behind the team. In my experience of watching Celtic roaring abuse at players short of confidence seldom improves performance.

Also going back to sign ex-players and managers seldom works for any club. Please leave McGeady where he is. His time is over as is Neil Lennon’s. would these guy even want to return. They both couldn’t wait to leave.

  • drawkcab says:

Two wins in next two games and you will all be happy.
