Is the Daily Record about to turn on Mr King?

For the third time this week the Daily Record has raised questions about Sevco chief Dave King.

After eleven months of unstinting support since he announced that he had bought a 15% stake in the holding company that runs the football club, the Glasgow based paper has eased back in it’s praise for the South African based criminal.

Today’s edition even uses the phrase ‘glib and shameless liar’ a term that will be alien to the 176,123 readers who were still buying the paper during October.

Adding to the intrigue is the media silence of transparency and accountability campaigner Paul Murray.

In March when he was handed a blazer and a ticket to the blue room of unsurpassed dignity Murray said: “I would personally like to take the opportunity to thank the Daily Record for its courageous journalism over the past four years – and officially confirm it is no longer banned from Rangers FC.”

Like Mr King Mr Murray has still to invest a penny in the holding company although the borders based banker has never gone on record to pledge £30m or his children’s inheritance to stop Celtic from winning the league.

Today’s edition of the Record covers the comments of maverick former SPL chief Roger Mitchell in which he clams that ‘Rangers’ would regret getting Mr King involved in the boardroom.

Mitchell was chief executive of the SPL when the contracts for Tore Andre Flo and Ronald de Boer showed that they were being paid half the rate that Celtic were shelling out for Chris Sutton and Neil Lennon. Mitchell believes that Scottish football is pointless without Rangers challenging Celtic, apparently by whatever means it takes.

Earlier this week the Record questioned whether Sports Direct had been repaid the £5m loan as promised by Mr King at the AGM. According to the glib and shameless South African based liar he raised the money after a conference call to some co-investors. No one else has stepped forward to confirm their contribution.

If the Record has finally wisened up to Mr King he’ll face a torrid time from the newspaper. Up until January 2012 Craig Whyte was portrayed as a very wealthy individual capable of carrying on the incredible achievements of Sir David Murray.

While Murray remains untouchable Whyte is now hounded at every avenue by the newspaper- with the holding company on the verge of administration Mr King may no longer be portrayed as the blue eyed boy capable of returning the Ibrox club to their rightful place dominating Scottish football regardless of rules, regulations and the impact on Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs.

Sevco, I'll give you Sevco..... as for the referees....

Sevco? I’ll give you Sevco!
